      ABOUT THE ROLE

      We have an exciting opportunity for a Procurement Specialist, Materials Management to join our SCM team. Reporting directly to the Category Manager, Materials & Maintenance, you will be responsible for the effective management of inventory across TransAlta facilities and the development of the Critical Spares and Materials strategy in support of the Company goals .

      This role is based out of our Head Office in Downtown Calgary

      This is a full-time, office-based role with the flexibility of a hybrid work schedule (days in office & days at home).

      WHAT YOU WILL DO

      Inventory Rationalization:

      • Collaborate with the Business to develop and implement strategies to rationalize inventory, reducing carrying costs and optimizing stock levels, ensuring adequate supply to meet demand and minimizing instances of both out-of-stock and surplus inventory.

      Demand Planning Improvement:

      • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to enhance demand planning processes.
      • Collaborate with the Business to improve accuracy and efficiency in material procurement.

      Team coverage:

      • Backup coverage for the Materials Analyst role.
        • Manage the Materials Masters cockpit: Timely review and approve materials masters, ensure accuracy and compliance with the standards
        • Analyze and monitor inventory levels to ensure an adequate supply of materials
        • Actively support inventory audits and resolve discrepancies

      Stakeholder Management:

      • Build and maintain strong relationships with internal stakeholders, including plant managers, maintenance teams, and other relevant departments.
      • Act as a liaison between procurement and other departments to ensure alignment with overall business goals.

      Process Optimization:

      • Evaluate and improve existing materials management processes.
      • Streamline procurement workflows, ensuring efficiency and compliance with industry standards.

      Supplier Relationship Management:

      • Identify and onboard new suppliers for critical materials.
      • Develop and maintain strong relationships with key suppliers to ensure a stable and efficient supply chain.

      Contract Negotiation and Management:

      • Negotiate favorable terms and conditions with suppliers to maximize value and reduce costs.
      • Monitor and manage supplier contracts, ensuring compliance and addressing any issues that may arise.

      Cost Reduction Initiatives:

      • Identify opportunities for cost reduction in the procurement process.
      • Implement cost-saving initiatives without compromising quality or reliability.

      Data Analysis and Reporting:

      • Utilize data analytics tools to generate reports on procurement performance, inventory levels, and cost savings.
      • Provide regular updates to management on key metrics and KPIs.

      Continuous Improvement:

      • Proactively seek opportunities for continuous improvement in materials management processes.
      • Ensure adherence to Company Policies, Processes and Work Instructions.
      • Support SCM team members as required.

      WHAT WE NEED FROM YOU

      • 10-12 years of relevant work experience in Supply Chain Materials Management is mandatory
      • 5+ years of Materials Management experience is mandatory
      • Prior experience using SAP and integrated procurement systems is mandatory
      • Proficient knowledge of strategic sourcing requirements and practices
      • Self-starter with a strong drive for achieving results
      • University degree or professional certification is required
      • Ability to effectively manage multiple projects simultaneously
      • Skilled in developing and executing supplier contract agreements
      • Possesses a team spirit and strong collaboration skills
      • Ability to build and manage relationships with various stakeholders
