      Powered by America’s largest newsroom, the NBC News Group Podcast team is committed to creating exceptional shows that not only inform and enlighten but that also move the cultural conversation.

      We are looking for a producer to join our MSNBC Audio Unit. This role will work across two political projects: a podcast to cover the trials of former president Donald Trump and another on the 2024 election. To be successful, the producer should have a deep interest in news and politics, as well as a thorough understanding of how to craft a compelling conversational show. The producer will be expected to shape episodes from start to finish and must be able to work on all aspects of audio production. This person will pitch conversation topics, research & fact check stories, edit interviews, and work to develop the direction of the show. The producer must have top notch editing skills with the ability to address and correct for any technical curveballs. On occasion, the producer will be expected to pre-interview and book special guests, as well as help with live podcast events.

      Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

      • Prepare timely and well researched pitches for podcast segments
      • Collaborate with host and guests on scheduling and technological requirements for taping
      • Prep host on interview topics and background
      • Direct host during tracking sessions
      • Direct in-person and virtual recordings
      • Write scripts and incorporate feedback from editors to improve script
      • Cut tape in Pro Tools and Descript
      • Work with engineer to fine-tune the final mixes of the episode
      • Work with AP on episode publishing, web materials, and marketing needs
      • Work closely with manager and teammates to make sure everything is accomplished
      • Must be willing to work varied shifts as news changes

      Qualifications

      Basic Qualifications:

      • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent
      • Minimum 3 years of audio production experience, preferably in podcasting
      • Technical expertise in ProTools and Apple computers
      • Working knowledge of Descript
      • Demonstrated ability to handle multiple projects under deadline
      • Understanding of journalistic ethics and best practices
      • Strong knowledge of current events
