Extensive experience leading product design teams in large, complex projects, spanning both UX and UI
Experience working with design systems and scalable approaches
Experience managing multiple stakeholders and working in cross functional teams - in close partnership with Product and Engineering
Proven skills as a self-starter who can manage projects in a fast-paced environment and remain focused amidst frequently changing requirements.
Keen interest in fashion and storytelling
Experience working in media / publishing or with a content rich product
Experience working for fashion and / or beauty brands
Experience working on e-commerce products, particularly in the fashion and beauty sectors
Experience designing for subscription acquisition and retention, and membership user experiences
Experience working in matrix organizations with distributed teams across multiple time zones

Position Overview: Our digital products play a critical role in Vogue’s future. Bringing Vogue to life on digital platforms, in engaging, user-centric ways, which drive business value is key to Vogue’s continued success.
We are looking for a Senior Design Director, located in New York City, to lead the design of our user experience and our international design team, across Vogue’s global portfolio of digital products.
The Senior Design Director is responsible for bringing to life industry leading, global user experiences, which put our users’ needs at their centre and elevate the excellence of our editorial, in order to deliver business value.
Primary Responsibilities:
Design Strategy: The Sr Product Design Director has a deep understanding of how great design can drive overall business results. They provide vision and direction, in collaboration with their cross-functional partners, to articulate a compelling vision for Vogue’s user experience across its portfolio of digital products, including Vogue Runway, Vogue Club, Vogue Business and more. They are an expert in artfully aligning business goals with our user’s needs, in order to create engaging, user-centric experiences.
Insights Driven Approach: Qualitative research and data is essential in forming a strong foundation for design work. The Sr Product Design Director, in collaboration with partners in the UX Research team, Product Analytics and Audience Development, is able to draw sophisticated, actionable insights to inform their design direction, as well as assess the success of their initiatives. The Product Design Director is an expert at running a user centred design process, and is able to flex their approach to the needs of fast moving, complex projects.
End-to-End: We have multiple users to serve - internal, as well as external - and we have numerous touchpoints to consider in designing a coherent user experience. The Sr Product Design Director is responsible for orchestrating the end-to-end product experience and its ecosystem - from the publishing of content, the integration of consumer revenue and commercial experiences, through to the end user experience on and off platform.
Team Leadership: The Sr Product Design Director is well versed in leading high functioning teams, establishing the culture and processes necessary to set up their team up for success. They will lead a team of product designers, researchers and content designers, working in a matrixed organisation. They empower and motivate their team, through fostering a collaborative, transparent and inclusive culture, where team members can thrive.
Foster Relationships and Collaboration with Cross-functional Partners: The Sr Product Design Director is a close partner to Product, Engineering, Editorial, Audience Development, Consumer Revenue, Commercial and more. They’re able to navigate the needs of a complex group of stakeholders and corral teams around a shared perspective to chart the path forwards.
Design Leadership: This role is an essential part of our Design Leadership team, who set the tone and shape our organizational culture and our broader design strategy, while championing the value of design and research.
Champion the Brand: The Sr Product Design Director has a nuanced understanding of how to bring an established brand to life within the digital space, and is able to collaborate with creative partners to create a cohesive, cross-platform brand experience.Qualifications, Skills, & Experience:
The expected base salary range for this position is from $150,000 - $235,000.
Salary offers are based on a wide range of factors including but not limited to relevant skills, training, experience, and education.
