Develop a deep understanding of stakeholders’ business needs and outcomes
Work in collaboration with Business, IT, Data Engineering, and Data Science teams to design and deliver products that provide business value and drive downstream efficiencies
Gather requirements and document them as user stories, epics, and themes
Maintain a prioritized backlog
Provide ongoing support to stakeholders and users of the data products
Accountable for end-to-end delivery of the product, in partnership with IT
Work in collaboration with the Director to develop and execute on long term roadmaps
Monitor ongoing use of the data products to help direct future investment decisions
Maintain metadata and data dictionaries
Resolve conflicts and find compromises
Ensure data quality and facilitate issue resolutions
Assist in developing business case justification for product development, creating budget requests and managing funding allocations for the data product(s)
Partner with ES and Architecture to evaluate solution and design options
Acts as the go-to Subject Matter Expert for the data product(s), partnering with other SMEs in the business stakeholders, IT and Data Engineering teams to ensure coverage of expertise across the domain(s)
Proven experience with product leadership, ownership, and development in data and technology; including planning, execution and coordination of delivery activities across multiple teams and stakeholders
3+ years as a Product Owner in Agile environment
Self-started with Owners Mindset
Excellent communication and influence skills while working with diverse stakeholders; ability to interact with multiple levels of management across business, IT, and Data Engineering
Ability to translate business needs and processes to requirements and technology direction
Demonstrated ability to assess business needs and conceptualize a vision for the product with the added ability to develop a product strategy and roadmap. Ability to communicate a shared vision and establish buy-in
Experience with preparing cost estimates, presenting budget requests and managing to a budget
Outstanding problem-solving skills and ability to facilitate problem identification, resolution and escalation across multiple business and technology disciplines
High business acumen
BS in Computer Science, Computer Programming, Informatics or equivalent
Insurance and/or Wealth Data Domain Product Experience
Knowledge of AWS and Database technologies
Familiarity with Data Science, including modeling
Familiarity with Data Engineering concepts such as ETL
Data Storyteller
Experience with managing multi-year roadmaps and business cases
Agile certification

Job Description:
We are looking for a bright, energetic, and ambitious individual to join our Data Engineering Team.
This is a fantastic opportunity to work with amazing teams and help them achieve their vision to deliver actionable information from data to enable business outcomes.
You will work with business stakeholders, IT, data science, and data engineering teams to develop a vision of what they want to achieve and the strategy and plans to get there, while at the same time working with cutting edge data technologies.
Your experience as a Product Owner means translating and prioritizing business needs to user stories and roadmaps. Your ultimate job is to ensure value comes out of your data product. You will take responsibility for the business success in terms of their dealings with your data product(s).
You are a passionate advocate for your stakeholders and will drive the deliverables to completion. Once completed, you will be responsible for data governance practices within your products, including metadata documentation and data quality, as well as facilitating resolution of those data issues. Your balance between technical and business knowledge and soft skills will be Key.

The Base Pay range is for the primary location for which the job is posted. It may vary depending on the work location of the successful candidate or other factors. In addition to Base Pay, eligible Sun Life employees participate in various incentive plans, payment under which is discretionary and subject to individual and company performance.
