      The Position

A healthier future. It’s what drives us to innovate. To continuously advance science and ensure everyone has access to the healthcare they need today and for generations to come. Creating a world where we all have more time with the people we love. That’s what makes us Roche.

      The Opportunity

Pharma Technical Technology (PTT) in Pharma Technical Operations (PT) ensures seamless industrialization and robust technical product management, focusing on safety, maintenance, performance optimization, and scalable processes.

Roche’s global Manufacturing Science and Technology (gMSAT) handles commercial products, new technologies, standardization, and risk mitigation, organized by large and small molecules, technology, and operations teams.

The Principal Product Technical Lead (PTL) maintains the technical health of assigned commercial products throughout their lifecycle, leading cross-functional teams. Responsibilities include developing strategic industrialization roadmaps, ensuring product and process robustness, managing risks, and ensuring timely delivery of technical activities. The PTL collaborates with the Technical Development Leader to ensure continuity in technical leadership.

      • Develops and takes end-to-end ownership of the technical strategic roadmap, defining all technical industrialization activities required for maintaining technical product health across the commercial product lifecycle. This includes planning, resourcing, and delivering deployment projects such as version changes, tech transfers, and process changes
      • Leads the technical product team, including members from DS, DP, QC, Quality, Device, Packaging, and Manufacturing, to deliver and troubleshoot projects. Ensures tight integration between product strategies and operational execution, driving strategic and operational technical product needs
      • Owns and executes the project prioritization framework in collaboration with PT functions. Drives critical decisions within the technical product team, cross-functional senior management, and governance committees that impact major project goals, financial outcomes, and the company's public relations posture
      • Owns end-to-end risk management for the industrialization plan, driving on-time risk mitigation plans within the technical product team. Interfaces with Quality through proactive collaboration to ensure successful delivery of all quality milestones, sign-offs, and responses to Health Authority inquiries
      • Strategically develops and integrates technical improvement projects to achieve Roche’s sustainability goals and cost-of-goods targets. Supports the evaluation of investments in long-term product technical health and continuous improvement initiatives
      • Establishes a product health KPI report to track and trend operational and technical product health. Drives response actions through the technical product team to protect product health, including ownership of E2E complaint mitigations, CAPA deployment, and root cause analysis. Reports and escalates trends and risks to senior management for effective decision-making
      • Represents the technical product health decisions at an executive leadership level in relevant governance bodies. Partners closely with Technical Development and Product Strategy Leads to ensure a seamless continuum from CMC to Commercial, and to translate commercial goals into technical execution

      Who you are

      • Holds a B.S./M.S./Ph.D. degree in chemistry, pharmaceutics, chemical engineering, or a related field, with 10-15 years of experience in the pharmaceutical industry, covering all technical aspects of commercial products including DS, DP, QC, QA, Regulatory, Device, and Manufacturing
      • Possesses strong experience in industrializing new launch products and managing highly complex, cross-functional programs. Demonstrates an ability to lead teams and operate effectively in highly matrixed business environments
      • Proven capability to think strategically and translate strategies into structured deployment plans. Accurately assesses the business impact of technical decisions and drives strategic initiatives forward with strong decision-making skills
      • Displays a successful track record of collaboration with senior management across divisions. Effectively navigates complex organizational structures and influences cross-functional stakeholders
      • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, capable of articulating technical work to both technical and non-technical audiences. Demonstrates the ability to influence and engage cross-functional teams with clarity and effectiveness
