- Establish grassroots networks to broaden DPR’s audience and better meet customers’ needs and expectations
- Expand DPR's digital portfolio of educational and informational materials
- Refresh DPR’s brand book with new content, based on new DPR templates and in accordance with new County logo guidelines
- Revamp sdparks.org to meet revenue generation goals, County IT standards and County accessibility requirements
- Launch the OuterSpatial Trail App and corresponding trail challenges
- Write, create and publish graphics for print and online use
- Continue promotions to increase visitation and revenue generation in parks and recreation facilities
- Reintroduce sponsor and naming rights within DPR
- Oversee graphics production process and designers to keep projects on track and on time
- Job Offer and Background Process begins in December 2024. Note: Current County employees may be excluded from additional background screening.
- Pre-employment Medical Screening: Approximately 3 days following successful background investigation results.
- Anticipated Start Date: Start date will be based upon successful completion of medical screening or other mutually agreed upon date.
PROGRAM COORDINATOR-Department of Parks and Recreation-Marketing(Working Title - Marketing Manager )

Job offers for selected candidates will be made the week of December 16, 2024.The County of San Diego is currently accepting job applications for Program Coordinator-Department of Parks and Recreation-Marketing (Working title - MARKETING MANAGER). This recruitment will be used to establish an eligible list to fill an immediate vacancy in the Department of Parks and Recreation.Position Information
The selected candidate for Program Coordinator-Department of Parks and Recreation-Marketing will be responsible for overseeing all marketing, graphics, public relations, and media relations activities for the Department of Parks and Recreation (DPR). Duties will include developing, implementing and managing marketing strategies and resources for the department. Examples include: Administering websites, technical applications and social media campaigns; preparing reports and briefings for executives; reviewing Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) sheets and responding to media inquiries; overseeing sponsorships and naming rights policy and outreach; coordinating advertising contracts and campaigns; managing groundbreaking and ribbon-cutting events; launching special programs to boost accessibility and inclusion in parks; establishing and maintaining stakeholder engagement; expanding internal and external communications; and supervising subordinate staff.
The selected candidate will also perform the following duties:
Minimum Qualifications
A bachelor's degree from an accredited U.S. college or university, or certified foreign studies equivalency, AND, four (4) years of professional experience performing analysis, budget management, program administration, engineering, or closely related work in a program performing planning and analysis; OR a combination of education and/or experience as stated above.
Evaluation Process
