      In accordance with the Vision, Purpose, and Values, and strategic direction of the Vancouver Island Health Authority (Island Health), patient and staff safety is a priority and a responsibility shared by everyone; as such, the requirement to continuously improve quality and safety is inherent in all aspects of this position.

      Reporting to the Manager or designate, the Program Support Clerk provides support to all MHSU/AMSU programs and admin staff across Island Health. Types a variety of correspondence and documents. Maintains program and personnel data, enters information into databases or spreadsheets in accordance with standard formats. Processes routine financial transactions which includes reconciling program P-card, processing invoices, setting up new accounts for purchases. Provides support as requested with space move and new site set-up by submitting and tracking work-orders with the IMIT, Facilities, Transport and Housekeeping Departments.

      Travel may be a requirement of this position. Transportation arrangements must meet the operational requirements of the Vancouver Island Health Authority in accordance with the service assignment and may require the use of a personal vehicle.


      QUALIFICATIONS:

      Education, Training And Experience

      Grade 12 graduation; Office Administration Certificate including courses in word processing, spreadsheet and database software.

      A minimum of three (3) years recent related administrative or secretarial experience in a similar environment or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

      • Ability to establish and maintain rapport with clients;
      • Ability to type a minimum of 55 words per minute;
      • Ability to utilize Word Processing, spreadsheet and database software;
      • Knowledge of general office procedures;
      • Ability to analyze and resolve problems;
      • Ability to do basic mathematical calculations;
      • Ability to operate related equipment, e.g. personal computer, photocopier, facsimile and multi-line telephone;
      • Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position.
