- Identifies and manages existing and emerging risks that stem from business activities and the job role.
- Ensures risks associated with business activities are effectively identified, measured, monitored, and controlled.
- Follows written risk and compliance policies, standards, and procedures for business activities.
- Applies sophisticated knowledge of policies, processes, and procedures to provide guidance and coaching for team members and serves as a resource on raised issues.
- Serves as a resource to management on special projects or broader security impacting assignments.
- Controls access to USAA property and delivery access at entry gates, turnstiles, and visitor lobbies; provides information and direction to employees, visitors and contractors.
- Provides armed response and resolution to critical incidents, such as, workplace violence, active shooter events, bomb threats and other security issues.
- Patrols USAA properties to prevent trespassing, theft, vandalism, and criminal activities.
- Enforces parking and traffic controls and composes incident reports.
- Performs pedestrian and vehicle traffic direction and parking control as well as vehicular and walking patrols to protect USAA assets.
- Leads USAA responses to emergency incidents; works with and provides assistance to civil first responders to include federal, state and local law enforcement agencies and other emergency services providers.
- Reviews shift blotter and documents for assigned shift, ensuring that key information is communicated to team members as appropriate.
- Assists supervisors and managers in duty assignments, daily operations, and coordinating workflow.
- Handles complex security issues and assists in oversight of shift personnel.
- Participates in quarterly training sessions to sustain competencies in alignment with USAA Security Officer Standards.
- Maintains valid First Aid, CPR, and expandable baton certifications in accordance with USAA Security Officer Standards.
- Maintains valid state security officer firearm license in compliance with state of employment requirements and in accordance with USAA Security Officer Standards.
- Performs all other duties as assigned.
- High School Diploma, General Equivalency Diploma, or applicable trade/technical school diploma.
- 4 or more years of physical security, law enforcement, or military experience.
- Experience working with Microsoft Office tools to include Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
- Possess valid state driver's license.
- Job Offer contingent on passing a Fit for Duty evaluation.
- Initial and continued employment conditional upon passing USAA’s Protective Security training standards within 3 attempts (for initial and follow-on training cycles) and obtaining required state armed security license and/or certification for assigned post state, i.e., Texas security commission, Florida security D and G licenses, Arizona armed guard training within 6 months.
- First Aid/CPR certification
- Completion of law enforcement academy training
- ASIS certification
- Prior experience using security related systems. Report management system, two-way radios, and visitor management systems.
- Ability to work days, nights, weekends, holidays, and overtime if required
- Prior Law enforcement academy, advanced tactical experience, military specialty training and/or advanced medical response is preferred
- Experience conducting security risk assessments and incident investigations.
- Texas employees: Must be able to successfully complete training and obtain a State of Texas Level III Commissioned Security Officer license within six months of hire and maintain this license throughout course of employment.

We are seeking a hard-working Senior Protective Security Officer for our Plano Legacy facility to Provides armed workforce security and safety by responding to and resolving issues pertaining to access control, accident and emergency response, medical response, workplace violence, active shooter events and other security issues. Under minimal supervision, uses established procedures to perform complex duties and problem resolution and serves as a team lead, coach for other team members. Performs all duties in alignment with USAA’s Security Officer Standards.

Compensation: USAA has an effective process for assessing market data and establishing ranges to ensure we remain competitive. You are paid within the salary range based on your experience and market data of the position. The actual salary for this role may vary by location. The salary range for this position is: $55,110.00 - $88,590.00. Employees may be eligible for pay incentives based on overall corporate and individual performance and at the discretion of the USAA Board of Directors.
