Description
JOB DESCRIPTION: Patrols facilities and property making observations to detect unauthorized persons or activities and unsafe conditions. Maintains visibility to deter criminal activity. Reports minor violations to police or other law enforcement personnel. Provides restraint under lawful direction and may administer first aid or CPR in emergency situations. Follows organizational guidelines in reporting security-related information. Performs regular, armed foot patrols of building(s) and exterior to observe any unusual signs of disturbance or activity. Controls access to restricted organizational properties and verifies the admittance of authorized individuals. Responds to fire and safety alarms, hazards, or violations while on patrol. Responds and intervenes in confrontations and restrains violent or disoriented persons as lawfully directed, providing support to clinical team as patient emergencies arise. Observes the necessary safety precautions and established protocols for observations, holds, and patient restraints in accordance with federal, state, and organizational mandates to ensure a safe work environment. Makes recommendations for changes in safety and security procedures to maintain a high quality of security services. Assists with parking and security during special events and provides visitors with directions and security information. Performs other related duties as required. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: A high school diploma or equivalent. Two (2) years of military, law enforcement or security experience. Able to exercise physical restraint. Requires a Georgia driver's license and insurable driving record. Must obtain a CPR card within six (6) months of employment. Must obtain IAHSS (International Association for Healthcare Security & Safety) certification within one (1) year of employment. Nonviolent Crisis Intervention Certification preferred. Must be able to pass extensive Psych Evaluation as a condition of employment. Maintains licensure and proficiency in the use of all assigned protective equipment, restraint devices and firearms. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: (Medium-Heavy) 36-75 lbs, 0-33% of the work day (occasionally); 20-35 lbs, 34-66% of the workday; (frequently); 10-20 lbs, 67-100% of the workday (constantly); Lifting 75 lbs max; Carrying of objects up to 35 lbs; Occasional to frequent standing & walking; Occasional sitting; Close eye work (computers, typing, reading, writing); Physical demands may vary depending on assigned work area and work tasks. ENVIRONMENTAL FACTORS: Factors affecting environment conditions may vary depending on the assigned work area and tasks. Environmental exposures include, but are not limited to: Blood-borne pathogen exposure; Bio-hazardous waste Chemicals/gases/fumes/vapors; Communicable diseases; Electrical shock; Floor Surfaces; Hot/Cold Temperatures; Indoor/Outdoor conditions; Latex; Lighting; Patient care/handling injuries; Radiation; Shift work; Travel may be required; Use of personal protective equipment, including respirators; environmental conditions may vary depending on assigned work area and work tasks.
