      Job Description

      We are seeking a dedicated Quality Systems Specialist who will be responsible for maintaining the company’s certification to the AS9100 and ISO 9001 standards. The position involves working both in an office setting and on the plant floor, requiring strong communication skills to interact with customers, vendors, and other employees. The ideal candidate will have a firm grasp of measurement devices, the ability to visually inspect parts, and experience in quality management systems.

      Responsibilities

      • Maintain the company’s certification to AS9100 and ISO 9001 standards.
      • Serve as a backup to the Quality Systems Manager.
      • Manage and review customer contract clauses per AS9100D 8.4.3, ensuring requirements are met on specific sales and purchase orders.
      • Support the Customer Feedback System by handling customer returns, evaluating products, and establishing root cause analysis and corrective actions (CAPA).
      • Document and analyze all customer feedback and corrective actions.
      • Complete vendor returns, generate related paperwork, report information to vendors, request return authorization, and maintain supplier corrective action reports (SCAR) and credits.
      • Sustain the internal auditing program by scheduling, conducting follow-ups, reporting corrective actions, and conducting audits.
      • Manage external vendor audits by coordinating with supply chain teams and scheduling vendor site visits.
      • Inspect in-process and returned materials to verify compliance with material specifications, and conduct first article inspections (FAI) in accordance with AS9102.
      • Preserve document and data control of all QMS documents, and manage quality work instruction files.
      • Identify areas for process improvements throughout the company, participate in quality meetings, and facilitate improvement activities including training.
      • Train employees and new hires on the Quality Systems, Quality Objectives, and the Quality Policy.
      • Review key quality metrics such as non-conformance, defect rates, and customer complaints, and implement strategies for continuous improvement.
      • Maintain calibration schedules in cooperation with the maintenance department.
      • Request, create, and file certificates of conformance and analysis from vendors and other related quality documentation.
      • Perform duties safely and maintain a high level of safety awareness.

      Essential Skills

      • Certification through the American Society for Quality (ASQ) is a plus.
      • 5+ years of experience in Quality System/Assurance or equivalent experience.
      • Experience in ISO audits and Quality Management Standards.

      Work Environment

      This is an in-office position with hours from 8:00 am to 4:30 pm, Monday through Friday. The role involves frequent communication with various stakeholders and requires the ability to operate standard office equipment. The work environment includes both office and plant floor settings.

      Job Type & Location

      This is a Permanent position based out of Kansas City, Missouri.

      Pay and Benefits

      The pay range for this position is $70000.00 - $74000.00/yr.

      QUANTITATIVE DATA: Must be able to remain in stationary sitting position for 60% of the time, with the remainder to be spent on the plant floor. Must be able to occasionally move about inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, etc. Constantly operates a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as a calculator, copy machine and computer printer. This position requires frequent communication with customers, vendors and other employees; candidates must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations. Must have a firm grasp of measurement devices including, but not limited to; calipers, micrometers and rulers/tape measurers. Must have the ability to visually inspect parts.

      ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
      1. Responsible for maintaining the company’s certification to the AS9100 and ISO 9001 standards.
      2. Serves as the backup to the Quality Systems Manager.
      3. Assist in managing and reviewing customer contract clauses per AS9100D 8.4.3. Ensure capture and flow down requirements are met on specific sales orders and purchase orders.
      4. Maintain/assist in supporting the Customer Feedback System. Responsible for customer returns, evaluating products, working with department managers on establishing root cause analysis and corrective actions (CAPA). Responsible for documenting & analyzing all customer feedback and corrective actions.
      5. Perform/assist in completing vendor returns and generating all paperwork related to vendor returns including internal non-conformances, reporting information to vendors, requesting return authorization, requesting and maintaining supplier corrective action reports (SCAR) and requesting credits.
      6. Maintain/assist in sustaining the internal auditing program. Schedule internal audits, conduct follow-up on internal audits, report corrective actions and root causes and conduct audits.
      7. Perform/assist in managing external vendor audits. Coordinate with supply chain teams and schedule vendor site visits as necessary.
      8. Perform inspections of in-process/returned materials to verify compliance with material specifications. Conduct first article inspections (FAI) in accordance with AS9102.
      9. Maintain/assist in preserving document and data control of all QMS documents. Assist in creating, implementing and managing quality work instruction files, updating when required by corrective actions or production.
      10. Responsible for assisting in identifying areas for process improvements throughout the company. Actively participates in quality meetings to implement process improvements. Provide suggestions for Kaizen activities and facilitate those events, including training.
      11. Assist with training employees and new hires on the Quality Systems, Quality Objectives and the Quality Policy.
      12. Conduct regular reviews of key quality metrics, including non-conformance, defect rates, and customer complaints, and implement strategies for continuous improvement utilizing this data.
      13. Maintain calibration schedules in cooperation with the maintenance department.
      14. Request, create and/or file certificates of conformance, certificates of analysis from vendors and other vendor related quality documentation.
      15. Perform duties safely and maintain a high level of safety awareness.

      OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES:
      1. Develops long- and short-term Company strategies & implements the plans developed. Communicates ideals and accomplishments to the management team.

      2. Ensures compliance with operation standards, department policies, company directives and assists with other projects and tasks as required by management.

      MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

      Skills: Excellent interpersonal and communications skills required. Good organizational and problem-solving skills are a must. Should have a working competency with all office equipment. Strong computer skills required – must have intermediate level of Microsoft Word and Excel skills, and some experience utilizing an ERP system within a manufacturing environment.

      Ability: Conduct business in a professional, positive and courteous manner. Listen effectively, respond clearly, write legible and read a variety of written orders/instructions. Ability to work on multiple projects within different departments at the same time, managing your time wisely with multiple interruptions.

      Education: Knowledge of the ISO 9001 & AS9100 Quality Management System required. High School diploma or equivalent required. Bachelor’s degree preferred. Certification through the American Society for Quality (ASQ) is a plus. Coursework in Microsoft Word and Excel software is also desired.

      Experience: 5+ years’ service at Budnick Converting, Inc., in Quality System/Assurance or equivalent experience at another company in a comparable position. Experience in ISO audits and Quality Management Standard required.

      HOURS: 8:00am – 4:30pm, Monday – Friday. In-office position.
