Job Description Summary:

Contributes to a project of considerable significance or leads smaller scope projects, including the launch of BD medical supplies used to collect, separate, transport and process venous blood specimens. Supports material/design/process changes to the product line through design control process, with well documented research/analyses, including material changes related to supply chain material availability. Demonstrates accountability for successful and timely completion of designated tasks, including generation of manufacturing work orders, test protocols/reports, and lab work requests. Develops technical solutions to complex problems using sound engineering principles, utilizing experimental, computational and analytical methods. Designs and develops in vivo and in vitro models to evaluate product features and improvements. Applies innovative & logical risk based approach to product development challenges with the capacity for original thinking. Develops robust test methods, design test fixtures and execute measurement system analysis, including innovation idea generation, support of team ideation activities and capture of concepts to feed innovation activities for new product development. Ensures compliance with BD quality policies, procedures, and practices through appropriate communication, training and education of sound quality assurance principles. Plans, executes and analyzes design of experiments (DOE) in support of the above listed IDS LSM blood and urine collection medical device launch and product changes. Writes implements and leads bench studies, tolerance stack up analysis, design verification, validation, vendor interactions, materials specifications and component specifications in support of the above listed IDS LSM blood and urine collection medical device launch and product changes. Performs data analysis using statistical tools, regression analyses and develop transfer functions. Collects, records, reports, interprets and analyzes data, presents results to peers and business leadership in support of the above listed IDS LSM blood and urine collection medical device launch and product changes. Provides advanced engineering skills and product evaluation support to the platform toward building business cases for new opportunities, including innovation support for platform new product development.

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (any) or related field of study and five (5) year of work experience in the job offered or related occupation in which the required experience was gained. In lieu of a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (any) or related field of study and five (5) year of work experience in the job offered or related occupation in which the required experience was gained, employer will also accept a Master's degree in Engineering (any) or related field of study and three (3) years of work experience in the job offered or related occupation in which the required experience was gained. Must also have demonstrated experience in the following: R&D functional planning, requirement generation and technical (DFSS/Design and Cross-functional) reviews for all product development phases; Solid modeling (Pro/E, SolidWorks or equivalent); Phase-gate product development processes and project planning; Fixture design including basic machining considerations and developing test methods; and Product development considerations for tightly controlled, high-volume manufacturing process.
