- Obtain work assignments from supervisor based on schedule and priority.
- Check oil and coolant levels daily and inform supervisor if maintenance is needed.
- Identify type of set-up required and determine work to be performed by reviewing customer-issued prints.
- Ensure correct material and tools are free from visible defects.
- Layout, plan, and sequence work.
- Select and verify machine accessories and holding devices are in good condition.
- Attach machine accessories, tools, and fixtures using wrenches, bolts, and clamps.
- Select and check cutting tools for correct type, length, diameter, and radius.
- Load and unload cutters using tool holders and hand tools.
- Load and unload workpiece on drill table manually, with a fork truck, or using an overhead crane.
- Set machine index points per drawing, including drill and tap depth compensations and tool heights.
- Run machine to perform machining operations such as drilling, reaming, tapping, spot facing, and counter boring.
- Monitor machine during operation for unusual vibrations or sounds.
- Adjust machine settings to correct machining problems or prepare for next operation in sequence.
- Check work after each operation to ensure parts are complete per drawing and free from visible defects.
- Remove sharp edges/burrs from parts using appropriate tools.
- Dimensionally check key features using precision measuring tools.
- Submit completed job or in-process checks to inspector at appropriate steps in sequence.
- Perform authorized rework as required and coordinate with supervisor to route parts to another department for completion.
- Experience in machine operation and set up.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprint schematics.
- Proficiency in using hand and power tools.
- Knowledge of drilling and machine shop practices.
- Ability to work from 5am-330pm Monday to Friday, with occasional Saturdays.

Job Description
As a Drill Press Operator, you will obtain work assignments from the supervisor, determine work priorities, and check oil and coolant levels daily. You will be responsible for setting up and operating drill press machines, ensuring correct materials and tools are used, and performing various machining operations.

Work Environment
This role is based in a job shop environment with regular hours from 5am to 330pm, Monday to Friday, with occasional Saturdays. The job involves using various technologies and equipment, including drill press machines, hand tools, and precision measuring instruments.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Sapulpa, Oklahoma.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $24.00/hr.
