      Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a band 6 Radiology Nurse specialist to join the expanding nursing team in the Radiology Department.

This dynamic department includes a wide range of x-ray-guided diagnostic and therapeutic procedures. The unique and varied nature of the specialty means that there is always something new and interesting to learn. Due to the diversity of patients who attend for treatment, the Radiology Nurse has the ability to care for a wide range of patients of all ages, from Emergency, Medical, Surgical, stroke and urological specialties. The Radiology nurses are vital team members, fulfilling the role of pre procedure, circulating and recovery nurse roles, as well as organizing the patient's pre- and post-procedure care. The role includes working in Interventional, CT, Nuclear Medicine and Ultrasound.

The Radiology Department is formed of a small team of nurses that work alongside the larger multi-disciplinary team which includes Radiographers, Radiologists, Healthcare Assistance and Administration Staff. This position would allow for role expansion in areas such as cannulation, venepuncture, caring for sedated patients, MPI stressing and nurse led clinics. The unit is committed to the training and development of staff so further development in this role would be encouraged.

  • About the company

National Health Service (NHS) is the umbrella term for the publicly-funded healthcare systems of the United Kingdom (UK). The founding principles were that services should be comprehensive, universal and free at the point of delivery—a health service based on clinical need, not ability to pay. Each service provides a comprehensive range of health services, free at the point of use for people ordinarily resident in the United Kingdom apart from dental treatment and optical care.
