      General Responsibilities

      Provide technical expertise to colleagues or clients for mandates in railway engineering and operational studies.

      Role and responsibilities

      Be a resource person for queries related to engineering issues, in particular those concerning railway engineering and railway capacity studies. Knowledge of various software is essential such as: MS Project, Suite Office, AutoCAD, AnyLogic or other simulation software.

      To be able to :

      • Perform data analysis.
      • Create and operate discrete event simulation models using simulation software.
      • Work on various projects at the railway operations level such as operational capacity studies of railway systems, calculation of transit times, planning of passenger train schedules, operational optimizations of infrastructure and others.
      • Take charge of operational analysis, carry out sensitivity analysis, as well as the preparation of feasibility studies.

      Qualifications

      Education: Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or Mechanical Engineering; studies in the field of transport / rail an asset. Be a member in good standing of the Order of Engineers of Quebec (OEQ). Other training – Basic knowledge of programming (Java, Python or other). Knowledge of AREMA standards is an asset.

      Years of experience: Minimum 3 years of experience in a similar position.

      Technical competencies:

      • Experience in site supervision. (An asset)
      • Experience in the railway sector
      • Modeling with dynamic simulation software, simulation of discrete events. Knowledge of AnyLogic software or railway simulation software (An asset).
      • Knowledge of programming with Java, Python or other (An asset)

      Personal & soft skills:

      • Good communication and talent for writing.
      • Have problem-solving skills.
      • Be motivated to learn and improve your skills on a continuous basis.
      • Strong autonomy when necessary, but have an ability to work in a team.
      • Good knowledge of French and English.

      Internal and external relations

      • Internal: Interact with all employees of the company and provide support for all questions related to structures.
      • External: Develop business relationships with customers, suppliers and other consultants.

      Reports to: Senior Transportation Economist and Asset Management
