      What We Are Looking For

      Seeking a detail-oriented Billing and Collections Specialist with a strong grasp of Medicare, Medicaid, and commercial payer processes. Utilize critical thinking to ensure accurate billing, review medical records for claim validity, and proactively address denials. Stay updated on billing regulations, report trends, and adapt to dynamic department needs for efficient claims processing.

      Position Expectations

      • Communicates daily with internal and external customers via phone calls and written communications.
      • Documents all communication and transactions in patient accounts accurately and completely
      • Assists in patient collections and reconciling deposit.
      • Is fully versed and able to cover and/or train in all RCM functions when necessary in regards to, answering phones, payment posting & reconciliation, customer service and billing within organization.
      • Identify billing or coding issues and request re-bills, secondary billing, or corrected bills as needed
      • Prepares and submits clean claims to all insurance companies either electronically or by paper.
      • Researches and resolves claim holds/rejections and denials. Verifies patient benefits, eligibility and coverage as needed.
      • Follow-up with insurance carriers on underpaid and unpaid claims
      • Accurately researches and initiates correction of pertinent information for outstanding accounts receivable such as patient demographic and insurance information, relevant UB04/1500 claim form information and modifiers, and provider information as needed.
      • Additional duties and responsibilities assigned.

      • Understanding of medical terminology and insurance guidelines.
      • Excellent organization and time management skills along with excellent oral and written communication skills.
      • Strong team player.
      • Ability to learn quickly, build and maintain long term relationships and work with minimal supervision
      • Strong written and verbal communication skills; strong analytical, organizational and time management skills required.
      • Must be able to manage multiple deadlines.
      • Additional skills required for success.

      Education, Experience and Certifications

      • High School Diploma/GED
      • Minimum of 2-3 years related experience in a medical billing setting and/or experience with an Electronic Medical Record a plus.
      • Minimum of 2-3 years related experience and training with insurance billing/collections and denial management (Desired)
      • EPIC Certification (Desired)
