Develop and maintain the processes and tests to ensure the consistent quality of our reagents and starting materials
Identify and troubleshoot problems in creative ways.
Collaborate with teams to forecast reagent needs for critical processes.
Maintain an inventory of critical reagents which have been validated for quality.
Work with vendors to negotiate pricing, quality control metrics, and inventory agreements as applicable.
Contribute to the definition and timely achievement of project goals.
Develop the SOPs to test the quality of reagents and starting materials
Participate in the production of reagents and starting materials.
Perform data analysis and protocol development.
Maintain accurate, detailed and reliable laboratory records.
Demonstrate strong organisational skills and meticulous attention to detail.
Present findings at group or departmental meetings.
Maintain the lab’s cleanliness and organisation.
Develop and propose improved processes to fulfill the above functions.
Other duties as assigned.
Bachelor’s degree in Biological/Life Sciences, Chemistry, Organic Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Biochemistry or related field, or equivalent combination of education and work experience, MS or PHD Preferred. 2+ years of industry experience, less with advanced degrees.
Minimum of 2 years laboratory experience with complex analytical instrumentation
Ideal candidates will have experience:
Analysing diverse compounds for QC
Maintaining vendor relationships
Forecasting and monitoring reagent needs
Troubleshooting quality issues
Mature understanding of how to work with chemical and biochemical samples, including sample handling, reactivity, purification and storage.
Technical background in next-generation DNA sequencing
Experience with HPLC, MS, NMR, IR, GC, spectroscopy and manual pipetting.
The Position
Roche Diagnostics acquired Stratos Genomics ( https://www.stratosgenomics.com/ ) in 2020 for its unique chemistry that advances DNA sequencing by nanopore, Sequencing by Expansion (SBX™). The SBX Technology group is passionate about the novel molecules they have developed and the impact SBX technology can have on advancing sequencing and patient outcomes. We are looking for people who are excited about the significance of our technology and want to make SBX successful.
In this role you will work across our functional teams to ensure the quality of the starting materials and reagents. The successful candidate will be a well-rounded individual with a demonstrated ability to validate and maintain an inventory of critical reagents. They will also exhibit a passion for scrupulousness and quality control.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
Relocation benefits are not offered for this role. The expected salary range for this position based on the primary location of Seattle, WA is $60,000 and $90,000. Actual pay will be determined based on experience, qualifications, geographic location, and other job-related factors permitted by law.
