      Job summary

Old Road Medical Practice are seeking several medical receptionists to join our team on a full and part-time basis with the flexibility to work on a weekly rota basis. Now classed as care navigators, these individuals require extensive knowledge of signposting to a variety of internal and external services, to ensure the needs of the patients are being met, at all times.

The receptionist/care navigator plays a pivotal role in the experience of patients at our practice, helping them to access the right services and dealing with their queries face-to-face, online and by telephone. Some flexibility is required, as you will sometimes need to work additional or alternative hours to cover for colleagues. A driver with access to a vehicle is preferred but not essential, to help and assist at our branch surgery in St Osyth.

General practice is a challenging environment that requires a calm and caring approach with the ability to work under pressure. The ideal candidate will be a highly motivated team player who has primary care and patient experience, who offers excellent communication skills.

      Main duties of the job

      • Greeting and directing all patients, in a pleasant and approachable manner at all times.
      • Arranging appointments and/or signposting patients appropriately, to internal and external services.

      • Accepting, issuing and handing out prescriptions, letters, completed forms, specimen bottles, etc.
      • Advising patients of practice procedures.
      • Registering new patients.
      • Accurately maintaining patient database and records, photocopying, filing and scanning.

  • About the company

National Health Service (NHS) is the umbrella term for the publicly-funded healthcare systems of the United Kingdom (UK). The founding principles were that services should be comprehensive, universal and free at the point of delivery—a health service based on clinical need, not ability to pay. Each service provides a comprehensive range of health services, free at the point of use for people ordinarily resident in the United Kingdom apart from dental treatment and optical care.
