      Job summary

      Nantgarw Road Medical Centre is looking for a part time (25-30 hours over 5 days) receptionist/administrator to work with our hard working, committed and friendly team.

      Main duties of the job

      Candidates must be computer literate and have a good telephone manner and the ability to work under pressure. Previous experience in a surgery or NHS environment and experience of EMISweb or Vision computer system a distinct advantage. Duties include answering the telephone, booking appointments, patient follow up for test results, coordination of requests for medical reports, stationery ordering, processing of incoming correspondence.

      We are a 4 partner / 9 GP training practice (with three trainers) working from a modern premises close to the A470, and a branch surgery in the aber valley.

      Job description

      Job responsibilities

      • Opening up/locking-up of practice premises and maintaining security in accordance with practice protocols
      • Maintaining and monitoring the practice appointments system
      • Acting on tasks sent by GPs arranging patient follow up
      • Processing personal and telephone requests for appointments, visits and telephone consultations and ensuring callers are care navigated to the appropriate healthcare professional
      • Processing and distributing incoming (and outgoing) mail. Including sending post on rota
      • Taking messages and passing on information
      • Filing and retrieving paperwork
      • Processing repeat prescriptions in accordance with practice guidelines
      • Computer data entry/data allocation and collation; processing and recording information in accordance with practice procedures
      • Sorting, Scanning, Workflow of incoming post
      • New patient registration
        • New patient signposting regarding 'unhealthy behaviours'
        • Workflow administration
        • Care navigation
        • Initiating contact with and responding to requests from patients, other team member and associated healthcare agencies and providers
        • Providing clerical assistance to practice staff as required from time to time
