      Performs assigned clerical work such as document processing and recordkeeping, assisting in the daily operations of the Medical Examiner's Office. This work may be varied and may involve simple analysis, problem solving and clerical skills.

      1. Prepares and makes case folders for incoming cases.
      2. Scans and uploads records from outside agencies into digital format for Crypt database. Retrieves and distributes as required.
      3. Answers customer questions via telephone and returns voicemails.
      4. Codes and binds charts daily. Scans documents from file into digital format to maintain for storage.
      5. Makes copies as required.
      6. Files and maintains completed case files in an orderly sequence by county.
      7. Prepares records for permanent storage including pulling and boxing records and entering information into the document management system.
      8. Utilizes the OnBase system to order files requested by doctors and secretaries or for filling incoming records.
      9. Maintains a log of files that have been binded.
      10. Ensures service requests are completed in Crypt for charts requested from doctors and secretaries. Maintains a record log for incoming and outgoing files.
      11. Assumes duties of the Records Manager in his/her absence.
      12. Performs other related duties as assigned.

      NOTE : You must fill out the work history and education sections of application to show you have years of experience/education as required by hiring department or be disqualified.

      • High school diploma or GED.
      • Two (2) full-time years of general clerical experience required, preferably in a medical environment, and one (1) full-time year preparing folders for filing of hard copy documents required.
      • Must be familiar with medical terminology, preparing electronic files, and filing records in a web-based information system.
      • Must be able to work with physicians and hospital staff.
      • Must have computer skills including a working knowledge of Microsoft programs, especially word processing and spreadsheet.
      If hired, must provide proof of educational attainment at new hire processing
      Tarrant County will conduct background checks on new hires that will include a criminal background check related to convictions and deferred adjudication in the past seven years and may include credit reports, motor vehicle records, employment records and educational attainment. A conviction or deferred adjudication is not an automatic bar to employment. Each case is considered individually.
      While performing the duties of this position, the incumbent is regularly required to sit, stand, walk, stoop, lift, reach, and bend.
