What to Expect (Job Responsibilities):
- Review, analyze, and document all referral requests while obtaining necessary authorizations
- Coordinate scheduling of specialty appointments, ensuring effective communication with specialty offices and patients
- Prioritize daily work queues to optimize patient scheduling and care delivery
- Maintain accurate documentation in the system and communicate updates to relevant parties
- Serve as a contact point for patients seeking new physicians and assist with referral inquiries
What is Required (Qualifications):
- High School Diploma or GED
- 3 - 4 years of related experience in a healthcare setting
- Proficient PC skills, along with strong customer service and organizational skills
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing conditions
How to Stand Out (Preferred Qualifications):
- Experience working with healthcare referral processes or scheduling
- Knowledge of managed care, Medicaid, and Medicare systems
- Familiarity with electronic health records systems, preferably Epic
- Strong analytical skills to assess and prioritize referral requests
- Previous experience in a customer-facing role within the healthcare industry
