What to Expect (Job Responsibilities):
- Receive and process authorization requests from the clinical team
- Collect necessary clinical data from EMRs or specialist practices to complete authorization requests
- Review provider lists and local maps to identify appropriate specialists for referrals
- Systematically track submitted requests and follow up with clinicians upon completion
- Communicate effectively with clinicians and health plan staff via telephone and email
What is Required (Qualifications):
- High School Diploma or equivalent required
- Medical assisting and/or medical back office experience strongly preferred
- Proficiency with medical terminology and familiarity with ICD-10 and CPT codes
- Excellent communication and active listening skills
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize work effectively
How to Stand Out (Preferred Qualifications):
- Medical Assisting certification preferred
- Experience using Microsoft Office Suite, including Outlook, Excel, and Word
- Familiarity with basic EMR systems
- Strong telephonic and customer service skills
- Self-starter with the ability to work independently
