      Required Qualifications (as evidenced by an attached resume):
      Master’s Degree (foreign equivalent or higher). One year of full-time professional experience in a college or university setting (Student work experience may be considered). Proficiency with technology, office software and communication systems. This position will be based from a home office in the Los Angeles/Santa Clara, California area. Must have, keep and maintain the appropriate valid Driver’s License; have a motor vehicle record which is free from major violations or a pattern of repeat violations.       Preferred Qualifications:
      Experience in admissions counseling and recruitment. Experience in reviewing applications for admission and making recommendations for admission. Experience working with diverse populations and working independently. Experience and knowledge with higher education technology platforms, i.e., SLATE. Experience with program planning, implementation, assessing and innovating to enhance programs.

      Brief Description of Duties:
      The Regional Admissions Counselor will represent the university, based out of a home office in the Los Angeles/Santa Clara, California area with responsibility for the California and broader west coast territory.
      Working with senior leaders in admissions, this position assists in developing and expanding recruitment initiatives to increase enrollment from identified territories and support university-wide goals. This includes working with internal and external university partner offices to assist in student recruitment and yield activities. The successful candidate will have excellent customer service and interpersonal skills, exercising strong organizational and time management skills with an exceptional attention to detail. Essential for this role is the adeptness to work independently as well as part of a team with a collaborative approach to problem solving. Vital to this position is experience with conflict resolution, collaboration and relationship building.

      Duties:

      • Travel and represent the University at college fairs, high school visits, community college visits, and other outreach programs in assigned recruitment territory and as needed in additional identified territories. Travel may include multiple weeks in one given time period. Building relationships with school counselors, CBO advisors, and other education representatives will be a top priority.
      • Build territory outreach plans based on office and university goals that may include in person and virtual or correspondence through email, phone, and paper follow up.
      • Engage with students, families, school counselors, IECs, and university partner offices to provide information on admissions and enrollment processes and policies, may require research to provide appropriate resolution.
      • Provide university and program information sessions for students, parents, and school counselors through the entire admissions cycle; these may be in person and virtual and may be delivered in various settings to various group sizes.
      • Engage in holistic evaluation of admissions applications to the university and make recommendations on applicants; populations may include domestic, transfer, international, honors and other special populations. Conduct follow up to increase application completion and yield rates from targeted schools and student groups.
      • Support targeted recruitment program or efforts which may include alumni engagement, student development and volunteer program, electronic communications, recruitment technologies, parent engagement, fly-in programs, counselor tours, advisory board, or other priorities as determined by office leadership.
      • Assist with and coordinate as identified targeted population recruitment and on and off campus and virtual programs, projects, and events hosted by the office or university partner offices; engage regularly with state and regional admission associations, and regional, state, and national recruitment networks.
      • View and interpret data and reports based on territory performance and create and make recommendations for appropriate follow up actions.
      • Complete special assignments or duties or projects as assigned as appropriate to rank and departmental mission and engage in office and unit committees.

      Special Notes:
      This is a full-time appointment. FLSA Non-Exempt position, eligible for the overtime provisions of the FLSA.

      In addition to the employee's base salary, this position is eligible for $3,400 UUP annual location pay, paid biweekly.

      This position will be based from a home office in the Los Angeles/Santa Clara, California area and will travel to campus periodically throughout the year.

      Early morning, evening, and weekend hours will be required throughout the year to support recruitment efforts.
