      REGIONAL MANAGER - TERMINAL OPERATIONS

      Horseshoe Bay

      The Opportunity

      We are seeking a dynamic leader with a commitment to safety to join our Terminal Operations team! Reporting to the Director, Terminal Operations this position is responsible for the management of terminal operations within the Central Region.

      The role

      Ensures the consistent high standards of safety at the terminal for passengers, employees, and the public by:

      • Implementing Corporate Safety and Risk Management process/initiatives
      • Ensuring safe practices in terminal operations and a safe working environment for all terminal staff, including verifying that all staff are properly trained
      • Working with all Terminal Managers and Supervisors, ensure daily adherence to all relevant safety practices and policies
      • Familiarizing terminal staff with policies and procedures as they relate to the specific terminal, conducting drills and coordinating training for terminal staff
      • Conducting rounds of the terminal, identifying unusual activity, security breaches and reporting as necessary
      • Participating in Joint Site Safety Committee meetings as a management representative
      • Coordinating the terminal response in the event of an emergency
      • Managing and monitoring absenteeism and workplace and customer injuries
      • Ensuring a high level of environmental standards

      Manages and is accountable for effective fiscal management by:

      • Preparing annual terminal operations budget for labour, consumable supplies, maintenance and other operational supplies
      • Monitoring and controlling terminal operations expenditures, explaining variances, monitoring labour costs and authoring overtime, taking timely preventative and corrective measures
      • Preparing quarterly terminal operations variance and forecast reports
      • Identifying and implementing efficiency/productivity initiatives
      • Liaises with other functional/departmental groups as required to ensure operational and financial objectives are met

      Manages Human Resources / Employee Relations activities by:

      • Assessing and hiring terminal management/staff in a manner consistent with Company policies and procedures in conjunction with Human Resources, including signing letters of offer
      • Establishing clear performance plans for each subordinate; regularly evaluating and documenting performance, including reviewing and evaluation probationary employees to determine their ultimate acceptability as an employee at the terminal
      • Applying the provisions of the collective agreement and acting in accordance with delegated authorities when necessary
      • Promoting effective teamwork through timely and effective communication in matters relevant to the terminal employees
      • Working with Crewing on schedules and workforce needs

      What you bring to the team

      You have a post-secondary Diploma or a related field along with 3-5 years’ experience in managing a passenger transportation terminal. In addition, you have demonstrated experience in implementing strategic initiatives, leading both a union and non-unionized workforce and creating and managing large operating and capital budgets.

      Experience in Marine Transportation is an asset. Travel is required.

      Additional information

      The target salary range: $121,800-152,200 per annum. The starting salary is determined based on the successful candidate’s knowledge, experience and internal equity. Starting salary may exceed the target range on exceptional basis.
