The Nursing Resource Team (NRU) is an initiative created to respond to unit nursing staffing requirements at Princess Margaret based on: patient acuity, replacement needs for leaves such as sick or vacation time, and known short-term vacancies when the unit’s internal staff resources are unavailable. The NRU is comprised of very skilled nurses, trained and capable of being deployed to provide high quality care to a wide range of patient populations. Within the NRU, no two shifts ever look the same.
The Nursing Resource Unit (NRU) is a team designed to give nurses a broad range of skills and knowledge to practice in a number of specialties. It is an ideal opportunity for nurses, from the novices looking to jumpstart their careers to the experts seeking to explore other career paths. Reporting to the NRT Manager, the NRU nurse will undergo an extensive orientation and education period before they assume responsibility for a broad range of nursing services for patients. The NRU nurse will be a champion in promoting excellent patient care while also demonstrating exceptional leadership, communication, problem-solving and conflict resolution skills.
