- Able to act up for the sister/charge nurse in their absence

- Ability to work independently to organise own work and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Sound organisational skills
- Flexibility
- Computer/keyboard skills
- Knowledge of monitoring conscious sedated patients.
- Cannulation and IV injection competence
- Knowledge of surgical/medical conditions and their management
- Awareness of strategies for maintaining a safe environment for patients, staff and visitors
- Previous experience of working in a radiology/investigative department
- Resource management awareness
- Flexibility with working hours
- Manual handling assessor

Job summary
We are recruiting for a Registered Nurse/ODP in interventional Radiology who shares our vision to be trusted to provide consistently outstanding care and exemplary service to our patients.
Interventional Radiology is an expanding service providing excellent care now to include admission and recovery of elective patients and a continued emergency service for the Trust. This role may be of interest for nurses who have experience in either Radiology, Operating Theatres, Day Surgery, Endoscopy and or general surgical experience.
The team currently covers Monday to Friday but will expanding to provide a seven day service, so candidates will be expected to work evenings and weekends as part of a rotation with other team members.

Main duties of the job
As an Interventional Radiology Registered Nurse you will need be competent to scrub and assist Consultant Radiologists doing interventional procedures including Vascular, Renal, Urological, Gastric and Biliary interventions, as well as assisting with interventional procedures in CT, Ultrasound and the Breast Unit.
With the new addition of a Admissions and recovery area, you will need assist and support the Senior Sister manage a small nursing team with day to day management of the interventional lists on a regular basis ensuring adequate skill mix and list utilisation.
You will participate as a member of the nursing team in providing a high standard of research-based patient care within the Radiology Department.
Provide advice and support to the team of staff working in all interventional areas including Admission and Recovery in order to deliver a quality service that is linked to high standard of patient care.
Within the role there is the opportunity to work autonomously and/or as part of a multi-disciplinary team. Professional development is encouraged and supported.
