What to Expect (Job Responsibilities):
- Manage billing for paper and electronic claims for primary and secondary payers, ensuring timely and accurate submissions
- Handle payment denials by investigating and resolving issues with payers or patients, including claim reconsiderations and appeals
- Collaborate with office team leads to obtain necessary insurance referrals and pre-authorizations
- Initiate private pay collections and work with patients to establish self-pay arrangements and payment plans
- Maintain accurate medical data for billing and reimbursement, adhering to HIPAA guidelines

What is Required (Qualifications):
- Associates' degree and a minimum of 2 - 5 years of experience in medical billing, medical office collections, or insurance verification
- CPC/HIT certification required; COPC certification must be obtained within 3 months of hire
- Strong knowledge of denial management, insurance rules, and coding guidelines
- Exceptional customer service skills and the ability to anticipate customer needs
- Well-organized, detail-oriented, and able to work collaboratively in a team environment

How to Stand Out (Preferred Qualifications):
- Experience in ophthalmology
- Knowledge of business office procedures and intermediate math skills
- Ability to effectively use electronic medical record and scheduling software
- Proactive approach to communication and problem-solving
