- You should be a strong logical thinker with the ability to solve complex technical problems and communicate in an understandable and convincing manner.
- Independently able to carry out laboratory work and use relevant data analysis methods to interpret and summarize results. Utilize verbal, written and visual communication skills and tools to lead the discussion and review of experiments with senior team members.
- Understand the industry application of the work being performed and familiar with industry strategies. Guided by senior team members, interact with customers to provide technical support and analysis. In addition, you should have a general business understanding of how the results will impact Novozymes and our customers.
- Assume role as local equipment super user and validate lab methods to ensure reliable results.
- A High School diploma with 8+ years of relevant experience in the ethanol or agricultural industry.
- An Associate’s degree in a scientific field such as Engineering, Chemistry, Biology, Microbiology, or Biochemistry with 4 years relevant experience in the ethanol or agricultural industry.
- A Bachelor’s degree in a scientific field such as Engineering, Chemistry, Biology, Microbiology, or Biochemistry.
- An ideal candidate will have significant analytical laboratory knowledge.
- Excellent written and verbal communication.
- Ability to work independently, prioritize, and meet goals.
- Good interpersonal and team working skills.
- Demonstrated success in attention to detail, collaboration, time management, and displaying the needed sense of urgency.
- Possesses the physical ability, visual acuity, and motor skills necessary to perform essential functions of the position, including operating in laboratory and industrial environments. Is able to bend, walk, climb stairs/ladders, and perform basic (small) equipment maintenance.
- Organizational and computer skills are required, including general use of Microsoft Office suite.
- Ability to travel occasionally (approximately 10%).
- This position will be based out of our lab in Ames, Iowa.

We are looking for an experienced and personable candidate to join our team. You will work with our Biofuels Technical Service team to support customers at ethanol plants across the US by providing outstanding analytical laboratory services from our office in the Midwest.
