- Monitoring and communicating through the Vancouver REB e-mail account, with some advising of researchers on how to find information to help them in preparing their ethics applications
- Screening all incoming REB Applications for clarity, consistency, and completeness during the first ten days of the month
- Preparing the meeting agenda, scheduling, attending, and taking minutes at monthly REB Meetings (9am-1pm on the fourth Monday of the month, excluding December and August)
- Coordinating one REB Information Session for researchers each term
- Updating REB resources for researchers on the Adler OneDrive platform
- Supervising the Administrative Assistant in updating and filing all REB documents, when required
- Attending additional meetings at request of the Chair
- Generally supporting the Chair and Board in their work
- Minimum of a Master’s degree that includes successful completion of a research course with awareness of qualitative and quantitative methodologies. Experience developing your own REB application for Master’s or Doctoral research or as a Research Assistant is an asset
- A demonstrated interest in research ethics and a willingness to develop an in-depth knowledge of the guiding document for research ethics in Canada – the Tri-Council Policy Statement 2 (2022)—as well as Adler Vancouver REB policies, meeting minutes, resources for researchers, and example applications. Prior experience working within a research ethics board is an asset
- Excellent digital organization skills and proficiency with Microsoft Teams, Microsoft 365 (Word, Excel), and OneDrive
- Demonstrated experience with detail-oriented work in an administrative and/or management environment, including:
- Organized and easily accessible e-mail and digital document filing systems
- Highly developed organizational skills and the ability to work independently, communicate regularly, multi-task, and set priorities
- Ability to exercise sound and independent judgment, tact, and diplomacy
- Flexible employment and/or study schedule that allows for a consistent commitment (need availability of an average of approximately 9-12 hours/week for the first ten days of the month, less during the remainder of the month), and attendance at regularly scheduled REB meetings (9am -1pm on the fourth Monday of the month)
- Willingness to learn and implement standard procedures and policies as they currently exist for the Adler Vancouver REB, and over time to make recommendations for improvements
- Strong English oral and written communication skills

Position:
The Adler University Research Ethics Board (REB), Vancouver campus, has a vacancy for the position of REB Coordinator, and we are looking for qualified and enthusiastic applicants who have knowledge and experience in the field of research ethics and especially with working with research ethics boards.
This would be an ideal position for a qualified candidate who is looking for part-time regular yet flexible work hours, and has work experience related to research, administration, and supervision.
The REB Coordinator works closely with the REB Chair to support the REB members and the work of the Board. Our Board reviews all research conducted by Adler University, Vancouver researchers at our monthly meetings, where members discuss ethics issues related to protection of and respect for research participants. We also pride ourselves in providing resources that help students and other researchers at the Vancouver campus of Adler University familiarize themselves with the process and requirements involved in applying for ethics approval. The Coordinator is responsible for the administration and coordination of the REB. They report to the REB Chair and supervise the work of the REB Administrative Assistant, when appropriate.

Required SkillsThis position begins as soon as possible. The position entails approximately 20-30 hours per month during our application cycle.
Remuneration for the REB Coordinator position is $30 per hour.
