What to Expect (Job Responsibilities):
- Serve as the liaison to the Department of Chemistry and support other science and engineering departments.
- Establish collection priorities and recommend specific purchases for various academic programs.
- Cultivate partnerships with faculty to enhance collaboration between the library and academic departments.
- Promote the library's digital initiatives and support interdisciplinary research efforts.
- Participate in professional organizations and contribute to ongoing professional development.
What is Required (Qualifications):
- Master's degree from an ALA-accredited program or a terminal degree in a relevant subject area with academic library experience.
- Academic background in Chemistry, Biology, or Materials Science.
- Commitment to fostering an equitable and inclusive workplace.
- Demonstrable knowledge of library research tools and techniques.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively.
How to Stand Out (Preferred Qualifications):
- Professional experience in a liaison or subject specialist role in an academic library.
- Familiarity with data-intensive research practices and willingness to develop further skills in this area.
- Understanding of scholarly publishing models and open educational resources (OER).
