- Conduct and coordinate field data collection related with livestock and drought risk management in collaboration with partners;
- Contribute for the development decision support tool across the waterpoints for effective early warning;
- Facilitate and coordinate consultative workshop with concerned stakeholders;
- Contribute for the development of agro-climate advisories for pastoral and agro-pastoral areas;
- Co-develop and co-promote Pastoral Community of Practice (PCoPs) ToR /Framework, governance structure and charter;
- Lead pastoralist community of practice (PCoPs) establishment and operationalization at Zonal and National levels;
- Ensure gender-responsive project activities implementation:
- Lead the capacity building of stakeholders to improve their understanding of water monitoring, pasture condition assessment, and climate risk and vulnerability assessment;
- Contribute the dissemination of project results through available stakeholder platforms including presentations and reports;
- Work with farmers and pastoralists, their representatives, and other key stakeholders to improve uptake of products/ technologies/innovations developed under this program;
- Actively take part in planning, coordination, and implementation of project activities for multiple projects or for a moderately complex project;
- Contribute to resource mobilization through significant input to proposal development.
- Lead the writing of project reports and outputs of small-scale /local projects;
- Translates SMS and other agro-climate advisories and technical contents of project results and brief into easily understandable languages or formats;
- Identify, documents, and share project experience, successes challenges and lessons learnt.
- Translate manuals, field guides, and demo materials from English to local languages as required;
- Perform other duties as requested by the supervisors.
- Master’s degree in veterinary medicine/livestock production from a highly recognized university.
- Broad/Specialized knowledge of methods, techniques, and processes - MBA Degree or Leadership certification.
- In depth knowledge in a technical or specialized field
- Seven years of solid work experience in project management including complex project designing, planning, implementation, monitoring and evaluation in pastoralist and agro-pastoralist areas in Ethiopia is required.
- Solid work experience in food security, resilience programming and market systems development approach in outreach activities is required.
- Must have extensive work experience in pastoralist communities of Ethiopia especially in collaboration with customary institute, in PRM.
- Practical experiences of climate risk management and its application in the lowland’s settings of Ethiopia;
- Conflict sensitive programming experience.
- Deep knowledge and experiences in development and humanitarian programming-
- Cross-border and Horn of Africa Regional experiences are desirable.
- Adaptive project management is a plus.
- Monitoring and impact evaluation of projects;
- Participatory Resources Mapping and Community Action Plan (CAP) Development;
- Deep understanding of pastoral production systems, their dynamics in relation to climate change, adaptation and coping mechanisms and its implication on the wider rangeland resource management systems.
- Livestock movement and market mapping and Analysis (MMA);
- Proficiency with Microsoft office (Excel, power point, Ms word, MS access) and in one or more statistical data analysis software (e.g., SPSS, STATA, etc.)
- Teamwork with staff management experience
- Problem solving skills and strong results-orientation.
- Proven negotiation and interpersonal skills
- Excellent organizational skills
- Capacity to work under pressure with minimum supervision.
- Excellent in English language skills are essential; Communication skills in Amharic and Afan Oromo are desirable.

The Alliance of Bioversity International and the International Center for Tropical Agriculture (CIAT) seeks to recruit a Research Officer III who will play a key role in supporting the Climate Action initiative by providing capacity building, technical support, and coordinating field data collection activities in Ethiopia. Additionally, the job will involve coordinating partnership meetings, ensuring timely follow-up on project progress, and disseminating project results to stakeholders.

The job will provide support to the Climate Action lever in Ethiopia through coordinating the execution and implementation of day-to-day project activities related with de-risk and digitalize production and supply chains to build resilience and improve productivity, and vulnerability assessment.
