Your opportunity:

University of Toronto’s Novo Nordisk Network for Healthy Populations is a new cross-disciplinary research network aimed at reducing the burden of diabetes and related chronic conditions. In partnership with Temerty Faculty of Medicine, Dalla Lana School of Public Health, and University Toronto Mississauga, the goal is to establish an integrated platform of community-based research to address root causes of the diabetes epidemic in Mississauga, Peel Region and beyond. Using an integrated approach that targets health disparities across settings of healthcare, communities, and living environments, the Network will advance knowledgeon how to make populations healthier in a feasible, effective, sustainable and equitable way.

The Novo Nordisk Network for Healthy Populations is committed to supporting multi-disciplinary, collaborative teams to co-design initiatives and interventions in the Peel Region focused on reducing the burden of diabetes and chronic disease. In this role you will be responsible for developing relationships with University of Toronto faculty, the Peel Region Community, researchers, clinicians, public health professionals, municipal and provincial government and agencies to support the Network’s research, community engagement and capacity building activities, including the Novo Nordisk Network for Healthy Populations Catalyst Grant program. The NHP’s Catalyst Grant Program focuses on building and growing collaborations between academics, researchers, clinicians and the Peel Region community to design, develop and implement evidence-informed programs, interventions, approaches, or evaluations that have shown promise in other contexts and align to the Network’s mission: To reduce social inequities in risk and burden of diabetes and other chronic diseases through better care, lower risk factors and healthier living environments.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Planning and overseeing activities that enhance and expand research funding activity and effectiveness
• Identifying, developing and executing strategies for research and development collaborations
• Building and strengthening relationships with stakeholders and partners of strategic importance
• Delivering presentations to promote programs, opportunities and/or initiatives
• Acting as the first point of contact for program-related enquiries
• Developing project schedules including milestones, critical path, timelines, deliverables and reporting
• Tracking funding and contract documentation
• Planning and estimating financial resources required for programs and/or projects

Essential Qualifications:

• Master's Degree or acceptable combination of equivalent experience.
• Minimum five years of relevant work experience; preferably in a hospital or post-secondary and/or public sector environment
• Experience in building collaborative research teams and managing multi-disciplinary and/or multi-institutional research projects
• Experience in the development of research proposals, publications, grant applications and/or contracts
• Related knowledge in conducting and designing research programs and in research methodologies
• Experience in budget development
• Experience in fostering effective communication within and among groups.
• Demonstrated commitment to equity, diversity, inclusion
• Experience in using word processing, spreadsheet, database and Internet applications and tools.
• Exceptional listening, verbal and written communication skills
• Excellent editorial and documentation skills
• Outstanding interpersonal and organizational skills
• Ability to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines and manage multiple projects simultaneously
• Detail oriented, resourceful, innovative, flexible, accessible.
