Salary Range: $4,610 - $6,556/Monthly

Work Schedule : Full-Time, Monday – Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.; some nights and weekends; exempt classification.

Essential Functions : Under the supervision of the Assistant Director of Residence Life, the Residence Life Coordinator (RLC) provides the direction, leadership, and management of a student residence hall or apartment complex. The RLC works to establish an atmosphere that is conducive to accomplishing the goals and objectives of Housing and Residence Life, the mission of the Division of Student Life, and the mission of the University. The RLC supervises a 24-hour residence hall or apartment complex for 1,000 to 2,500 students, a staff of up to 65 Resident Assistants, and 3 to 6 Program Assistants, 5 to 15 Student Assistants, and the RHA. The RLC provides students with advising, co-curricular education, crisis management, community development and general oversight of housing facilities assigned to them. The position also maintains low level housing adjudication, and minor budget management. This position requires living on campus in a residence hall or apartment complex in a furnished apartment. Meals are provided when dining service is open to the residence hall meal plan holders. The incumbent must have the ability to work nights, weekends, and holidays on a rotational basis.

Required Qualifications & Experience : Equivalent to graduation from a four-year college or university in one of the behavioral sciences, public or business administration or a job-related field. Additional specialized experience during which the applicant has acquired and successfully applied the knowledge and abilities shown above may be substituted for the required education on a year‑for‑year basis. Equivalent of two years of professional experience directing a Residence Life complex that has provided a wide exposure to student group problems or in a related field; experience should give evidence of competence and indicate the potential for further growth. A master’s degree in a job‑related field may be substituted for one year of the professional experience The incumbent must have knowledge of Microsoft Office products. Possess strong organizational, oral, and written communication skills; as well as good reading and writing skills. The incumbent must have the ability to work independently and develop solutions to complex problems; establish and maintain cooperative working relationships; relate to the present-day population of college students and help them with their personal and social development; keep records and accounts; select, train, and evaluate student assistants and staff; analyze emergency situations accurately and take prompt action; prepare concise reports; develop, organize, and implement residence programs; to perform mathematical calculations; assess needs quickly and effectively and intervene in student behavioral and crisis scenarios involving physical and/or emotional risk; advise students individually or in groups on routine matters, and general knowledge of principles of individual and group behavior; and ability to maintain dignity and self-control in stressful situations. The incumbent must have a demonstrated interest and/or ability to work in a multicultural/multiethnic environment. A background check (including a criminal records check) must be completed satisfactorily before any candidate can be offered a position with the California State University. Desired Qualifications : A master’s degree in Higher Education, Student Services, Counseling, or a related field very strongly preferred. Skill in program presentation, living learning community experience, student conduct, crisis intervention, staff supervision and experience with computers strongly preferred. Experience using student conduct databases such as Maxient or assignment databases such as StarRez preferred.
