      Position Overview

      Reporting to the Women’s Services Leadership Team, Residential Care Workers provide client and facility support. These positions require a commitment to a client-centred philosophy and approach to the development and support of Winnipeg Regional Health Authority (WRHA) programs and client services.

      The Residential Care Worker will demonstrate the following:

      Experience

      • Suitable combination of education and experience working in a residential facility, addictions related employment experience and/or volunteer work.
      • Experience working from a client centered perspective.

      Education (Degree/Diploma/Certificate)

      • Complete high school education, Manitoba standards, required.

      Qualifications and Skills

      • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
      • Demonstrated ability to work well within an inter-disciplinary team.
      • The ability to work within and contribute to a positive team environment.
      • An understanding of, and sensitivity to, working with culturally diverse populations is essential.
      • The ability to operate Microsoft software applications, internet and email communications.
      • Valid CPR-C with Automated External Defibrillator (AED) training and First Aid certification are required prior to beginning work.
      • Knowledge of the addictions field is required.
      • Fluency in English (the ability to communicate in aboriginal languages, including Ojibwe and Cree, as well as French is considered an asset).
      • Knowledge of Indigenous customs, traditions, and beliefs will be considered an asset.

      Physical Requirements

      • Suitable physical health to perform required duties.
      • Availability for shift work.

      This term position may end earlier as outlined in your collective agreement.

      This position requires a current satisfactory Criminal Records Check (including Vulnerable Sector Search), Child Abuse Registry Check and Adult Abuse Registry Check as conditions of employment. The successful candidate will be responsible for any service charges incurred. A security check is considered current if it was obtained no more than six (6) months prior to the start of employment.

      Please note that an employee is not permitted to hold two or more positions across the WRHA legal entity that combine to equal more than 1.0 EFT. The WRHA legal entity includes Churchill Health Centre, Deer Lodge Centre, Grace Hospital, Middlechurch Home of Winnipeg, Pan Am Clinic, River Park Gardens, Victoria General Hospital, WRHA corporate programs, and WRHA community health services.
