      The Denver Hospice has an immediate need for a Respiratory Therapist.

      Location: Denver Metro

      Status: PRN

      Schedule: Variable Hours

      Hourly Pay Range: $32.96 - $38.73

      Supplemental Pay: Based on position, schedule and/or availability: Paid Mileage, Shift Differentials, Overtime

      Mileage and Expense Reimbursement: Sixty-two and a half cents per mile – one of the highest in the industry!

      REWARDING WORK YOU WILL DO:

      The Hospice Respiratory Therapist provides specialized respiratory care and support to terminally ill patients in accordance with the individualized hospice plan of care. This role collaborates with the interdisciplinary hospice team to improve patient comfort at end of life and ensure the safe and appropriate use of respiratory equipment in the home or facility setting.

      • Assess and evaluate patients with respiratory conditions, providing recommendations for comfort and symptom control.
      • Implement and manage non-invasive therapies including oxygen administration, CPAP/BiPAP, nebulizer treatments, HHFO2 and comfort related symptom management.
      • Educate patients, caregivers, and hospice team members on proper use of respiratory equipment and end of life symptom management plans.
      • Monitor the effectiveness of therapy and make necessary adjustments to support comfort and quality of life.
      • Ensure accurate documentation of assessments, interventions, and outcomes in accordance with regulatory standards.
      • Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to develop and update the patient’s plan of care.
      • Be available to receive patients on ventilators, trilogy, and/or BiPap to ensure correct settings and assist with extubating if needed in home or ICC.
      • Maintain current knowledge of best practices and standards in hospice and respiratory care.
      • Ensure proper maintenance, infection control, and safe use of respiratory equipment.
      • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

      WHAT WE ARE GOING TO LOVE ABOUT YOU:

      • Minimum Education: Graduation from a four-year college or university, including completion of a respiratory therapy education program.
      • Minimum Experience: At least one year of respiratory therapy experience required, with two years of SNF, hospital or inpatient rehab preferable. Home health experience also preferred. Other requirements may vary by case or department needs.

      • Required License: Must have active Colorado RT license. Current CPR certification based on individual affiliate requirements.

      PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

      • Ability to lift/push/pull minimum of 35 lbs.

      The Denver Hospice is affiliated with Care Synergy, a nonprofit network of community-based hospice and palliative care organizations serving Colorado’s Front Range and the Region’s Largest Home Health, Hospice, and Palliative Care Network. Care Synergy provides mission support services to better equip The Denver Hospice to operate as a distinct and independent organization while working together to share best practices and serve more Coloradans along the Front Range.
