      Job Description

      General Motors is turning Orion Assembly into the Battery Electric Truck Plant of the Future!       The Role:

      The RESS (Rechargeable Energy Support System) test engineer will be assigned to the battery department inside the plant and will be responsible for supporting the implementation of battery test process equipment throughout launch and ongoing operations. This will include test equipment for both modules and packs. This individual must have the ability to collaborate with all shop floor personnel, work with little direction, and have problem resolution skills. Additionally, you must be willing to support the implementation process of a GPS product inside a vehicle assembly plant. The RESS test engineer should be able to demonstrate excellent level of analytical ability, communication and interpersonal skills required to build relationships with team members and customers to solve problems and resolve issues.

      What You'll Do (Responsibilities):

      • Promotes, educates, communicates, and follows up on safety initiatives

      • Must be willing to rotate shifts & communicate status to following shifts

      • Support Red/Yellow/Green tag process for equipment installation with execution counterparts

      • Participate in PFMEA, SFMEA, PCP, and G-Risk meetings

      • Support equipment debug process with ME/Execution counterparts

      • Develop/implement testing processes for modules and battery packs

      • Ability to examine/interpret data to resolve issues.

      • Utilize FTQ/FTA data to improve quality and throughput.

      • Assist with battery testing/evaluation as needed.

      • Update area of responsibility and participate in the Launch wall meetings

      • Works with operations to identify and develop the Battery training skilled operators and ensure its implemented

      • Supports GMS activities and implementation

      • Lead TIP throughout battery test equipment

      Additional Job Description

      Your Skills and Abilities (Required Qualifications):

      • At least 2 years of manufacturing experience

      • Engineering degree from ABET-accredited university OR equivalent experience

      • Deep technical knowledge and ability in process engineering disciplines

      • Understanding of electrical concepts

      • Ability to work weekends and overtime on an as needed basis

      • Ability to rotate shifts as needed (position will start on 1st shift but will rotate with 2nd shift as needed)

      • Ability to travel around 25% of the time during 1st year (domestic and international)

      What Can Give You a Competitive Edge (Preferred Qualifications):

      • 5+ years of Manufacturing experience

      • Previous battery test experience

      • Experience with laser welding

      • Experience with Product Launches (automotive preferred)

      • Master's Degree or higher in Mechanical Engineering or similar
