      Job Summary

      This is a leadership position that includes developing the “TC approach” to a variety of situations. Retail managers direct bookseller work on the floor. The retail manager is a key component of retail floor coverage and will work the majority of their time on the floor, when not fulfilling other responsibilities.

      What You Do

      • Support the in-store customer experience by: o Developing bookselling skill in self and staff o Supporting and maintaining inventory merchandising effort o Providing category/title performance feedback to the buyers o Working with managers, buyers, HR, maintenance, and other departments as necessary to develop or improve procedures and practices that support sales, customer service, and staff performance. • Ensuring coverage on the retail floor, the reserve desk and cash registers • Assigning staff to projects that support product/category maintenance and merchandising • Completing stock transfers and pick process of publisher returns • Scheduling staff when assigned • Other duties and responsibilities as needed for the effective and efficient operation of the store

      Knowledge & Experience

      • Effective communication skills and practices. • Leadership interest and ability. • Ability to model and develop bookselling skill in others when working with a diversity of people as well as a variety of books. • Ability to master store systems and procedures. • Ability to be sensitive and helpful when dealing with personnel issues. This would include doing reviews with the floor staff; therefore, one must be comfortable with issues of confidentiality. • A real interest in the floor as well as customer service; must be willing to handle what are sometimes difficult customer complaints and situations. • Ability to provide training and support for Floor staff. • Punctuality and reliable attendance are essential for this role

      Notes

      An employee in this position can expect a hourly rate starting at $23.00.
      Benefits:
