Review, inspect, advise and authorise engineering work to ensure compliance with required regulations and
standards
• Critical in supporting the delivery of operational activities
• Promotes a positive safety culture through visible proactive, consistent and influential behaviours
• Maximise opportunities to apply process improvement and best practice methodologies (where appropriate) to
improve process efficiency
• Actively demonstrate and promote the Cadent values, and positively contribute to a customer- oriented

• Design and monitor appropriate metrics to ensure effective performance and continuous improvement in the
work of the team
• Manage and build excellent relationships with internal and external stakeholders

environmentSection 4 – Specialist Accountabilities
Reviewing Routine Operation (RO) and Non-Routine Operation (NRO) documentation and works undertaken;
assess for alignment with policy and relevant standards
• Ensuring compliance with Pressure System Safety Regulations (PSSR), Pipeline Safety Regulations (PSR),
Electricity at Work Regulations (EWR), Control of Major Accidents and Hazards (COMAH) and gas quality
aspects of the Gas Safety (Management) Regulations (GS(M)R)
• Carrying out investigations, technical inspections and reviews to ensure operations undertaken are safe and
efficient
• Advising on remedial or corrective works required and ensuring Local Delivery Partner’s (LDPs) are fully
familiar with required actions
• Managing procedures for safely managing engineering additions, changes, modifications and repairs to the
network plant (mechanical, electrical and instrumentation)
• Supporting Authorising Engineers to undertake their role as described in Safe Control of Operations (SCO)
• Monitoring engineering and technical standards operated by Local Delivery Partners (LDPs)
• Ensuring engineering issues are identified as part of review processes and addressed / resolved accordingly
• Enabling Safe Control of Operations (SCO) delivery controls for Non-Routine Operations (NROs)
• Responsible for the Health, Safety and Environmental issues including Safe Control of Operations, Permits and
maintenance of ISO14001, PAS55, etc

Qualifications
• Degree or equivalent in an engineering discipline plus Engineering Chartership /or equivalent level of
experience
• Valid UK Driving Licence
Practical Experience
• Experience in conducting inspections, initiating preventative action and authorisation processes
• Knowledge of safety techniques
• Knowledge of appropriate legislation, policy and procedures
• Sound understanding of Cadent’s engineering operations
• Sound understanding of codes of practice, engineering instructions, safety and statutory regulation
• Post-degree experience in an operational or contractor environment (desirableAbout the company
