- Coordinates the development, implementation, and maintenance of a comprehensive risk management program for Casino Del Sol (which includes Casino Del Sol, Casino of the Sun, AVA Amphiteater, Casino Del Sol Resort, Estrella at Casino Del Sol, and Del Sol Marketplace and RV Park), including the setting of goals and objectives, identifying and conducting risk analyses, determining effective methods to handle each risk exposure, and conducting an annual review to measure performance and program effectiveness.
- Responsible for developing and administering risk management and loss prevention programs, including Safety Plans, Emergency Action Plans, and Evacuation Plans.
- Acts as a liaison to attorneys, insurance companies, and individuals, investigating and gathering evidence with respect to any incidents or tort claims that may occur that could result in a loss to Casino Del Sol.
- Manages general liability and workers' compensation claim administration and litigation support activities. Responsible for managing workers' compensation claims in accordance with applicable laws, regulations, and Casino Del Sol policies.
- Evaluates major loss exposures in terms of past and potential frequency and severity to establish priorities and methods for treating discovered risk exposures.
- Establishes and maintains liaison with administrative staff and others to coordinate risk management activities for development and implementation of the risk management program.
- Coordinates the creation of risk management policies, programs and procedures, which includes developing safety and loss control programs and procedures.
- Follows up regularly to ensure that Casino Del Sol departments are in compliance with their own safety protocols and procedures.
- Conducts regular risk management/safety meetings with Casino department management to discuss safety concerns and recommends remedial action to senior management. Leads this monthly meeting.
- Advises his/her director on methods for addressing risks.
- Recommends an appropriate delegation of responsibility for Casino Del Sol's risk management functions.
- Performs other related job duties as required or assigned, such as establishing short and long-range training goals and identifying and coordinating with outside agencies for specialized training.
- Conducts (at least weekly) walk throughs of Casino Del Sol properties to identify safety risks and raises any concerns with the directors at issue. Responsible for ensuring concerns are corrected promptly.
- Knowledge of job related tribal and other applicable laws and regulations as well as Casino Del Sol's rules and regulations, internal controls, policies, and procedures.
- Knowledge of curriculum design, development, and delivery.
- Computer proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite software, especially word processing, spreadsheet, and presentation applications.
- Strong analytical and forecasting skills.
- Strong organizational, planning, time management, and project management skills.
- Strong communication and presentation skills; ability to lead and direct team members and follow up with coaching, counseling, or disciplining as necessary.
- Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships.
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to work in a smoking environment.
- At least five years of risk management experience at a supervisory level or above to include supervising and directing multiple people in a risk management leadership role.
- OSHA 10-hour certification.
- Demonstrated track record of successfully interfacing with management, volunteers, insurers, and other outside agencies and organizations.
- Computer proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite software, especially word processing, spreadsheet, and presentation applications.
- Experience managing workers' compensation program in a large organization.
- Must have a valid Arizona driver's license.
- Must be able to work in a smoking environment.
- Must be in good physical condition and able to bend from the waist, stoop, kneel and crouch.
- Must have 20/20 vision, with or without corrective lenses, and be able to distinguish colors, shapes, and differences in size.
- Must have employment eligibility in the U.S.
- Must be able to obtain a valid gaming license.
- Bachelor's degree.
- 10 years management experience in a risk management leadership role.
- Certified Risk Manager.
- OSHA 30-hour certification.
- OSHA authorized trainer.
