      Summary of Primary Function/General Purpose of Position

      At the direction of the designated Manager/Director/VP within the Risk & Insurance Services department, the Risk Specialist supports all loss prevention and risk mitigation strategies and functions through data management, presentation development, information assimilation and dissemination; Risk Specialists assist with compilation of information required for both reactive and proactive risk management functions including discovery requests, leadership reports and information, educational/meeting materials and incident/claim information evaluation, submission and investigation.

      The Risk Specialist is responsible for all aspects of onboarding new Physicians and Advanced Practice Clinicians for multiple markets into the malpractice insurance program. This includes but is not limited to: analyzing the application and supporting documents, conducting primary source verification and performing an underwriting analysis. The Risk Specialist should be familiar with malpractice insurance and its importance in the larger health system.

      Essential Job Functions

      Supports risk prevention activities at the direction of the Manager/Director/VP and Market/Ministry level to which the Specialist is assigned

      Manages data and information for utilization by Risk Management Leadership in response to or anticipation of Leadership needs and Strategic Objectives.

      Supports all aspects of data analysis and management for the assigned Market(s)/Ministry level to which the Specialist is assigned

      Provides reports and information for and at the direction of Risk Management Leadership team members.

      Proactively anticipates and evaluates Risk Management information needs for Board and Committee reports, Educational Sessions and meetings, and Risk Investigations / RCAs.

      Analyzes Event Trends and Claim Data in support of Risk Initiatives/Objectives.

      Supports data management needs of Risk & Insurance Leadership team

      Collaborates with staff at all levels in various departments to ensure timely response and collaboration to meet the demands of the Ministry

      Employment Qualifications

      Required Minimum Education:

      Associate Degree or comparable experience

      Specialty/Major

      Healthcare, business, or related field

      Preferred Education

      Bachelor’s Degree

      Licensing/ Certification

      Licensure/Certification Required

      Licensure/Certification Preferred

      CPHRM (within 3 years of hire)

      Minimum Qualifications

      Minimum Years and Type of Experience

      3+ years in Risk Management, Quality, Operations or Administration in a Healthcare or Insurance organization

      Previous experience in health care, underwriting or malpractice insurance preferred.

      Other Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required

      Highly proficient in all Microsoft applications; Excellent organization skills and strong ability to multi-task; Outstanding verbal and written communication skills and professional demeanor; Self-directed/demonstrates initiative
