Vaccination for COVID-19 and Influenza (flu) is mandatory for all MSK staff. Staff are considered fully vaccinated upon completion of a primary vaccination series for COVID-19 (i.e., one dose of a single dose vaccine or a final dose of a multi-dose vaccine series). Exceptions from the COVID-19 and Influenza (flu) vaccine requirements are permitted for those who request and receive an approved medical, religious, or fully remote exemption. Requests for exemption can take up to two weeks to review. Vaccination or an approved exemption is required to start work.

Job Description

We are seeking a Safety Advisor to join our Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) team. This is an exciting opportunity for someone passionate about healthcare as well as EHS!

You Will:

• Perform inspections of assigned safety equipment. Maintains records in compliance with NFPA, International Fire Code, FDNY, OSHA, and Joint Commission Standards.
• Support the EHS Manager in coordinating annual inspection and required maintenance of portable fire extinguishers with vendor. Assists with coordination and implementation of inspection, testing and maintenance of other safety systems as needed.
• Perform safety inspections, audits and facility safety surveillance as assigned. Initiates corrective actions where vital to achieve safety compliance.
• Generate work order requests and follows up with responsible parties to Correct findings. Provides escort and assistance, including all requested paperwork during inspections conducted by regulatory agencies.
• Conduct fire and non-fire drills and fire drill-in service trainings enterprise-wide, as assigned.
• Support EHS managers by providing advised training on specific health and safety programs including fire safety awareness, hazardous materials management and occupational health and safety.
• Respond to emergency incidents, fire and non-fire emergencies and assists with workplace investigations. In the event of a fire alarms activation, participate as a member of the MSK fire response team according to fire response procedures.

You Have:

• 2-4 years of experience in EHS, Facilities, or Hospital Operations
• Proven Understanding of building and fire codes, OSHA standards and National Fire Protection Association standards.
• Proficient in the use of computers including Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Outlook.
• FDNY Issued Certificate of Fitness F-53, S-95, W-07 (able to acquire within 3-6 months)

Schedule:

• M-F, 12-8PM with flexibility; and weekend coverage as needed

Location: 1275 York Ave primarily with flexibility to visit our UES sites

Pay Range: $78,900.00-$126,200.00
