      Job summary

      Salary circa £11,500 per session per year

      We are seeking General Practitioner to work 6 sessions per week, Monday, Tuesday & Wednesday.

      Main duties of the job

      • Each session containing 14 face to face appointments (converted to telephone at patient request) made up of pre-booked, and urgent on-the-day slots

      • Fair share of clinical administration including blood filing, clinical task group, medical reports

      • Ensuring urgent actions completed each day by the team (urgent bloods, urgent tasks, call backs etc)

      • Low visit demand

      • Processing of administration including referrals, prescription requests and other associated tasks
      • Promote collaborative working through on-the-ground leadership
      • Attend and contribute to weekly clinical meetings and other practice meetings
      • Committed to achieving practice targets opportunistically during regular consultations

      About us

      Briercliffe GP Surgery is run by Dr Jawaid Khan, Dr Mark Fuller, and Mr Methven Forbes. The Practice has around 8000 registered patients and has a multidisciplinary team comprising GPs, Paramedic, ANP, Nurses and Healthcare Assistants. The Practice is also host to registrars and medical students.

      Job description

      Job responsibilities

      • Utilisation of EmisWeb clinical system
      • Undertake a variety of duties, including face to face and telephone consultations, queries, home visiting (mostly done by Clinical Practitioners), repeat prescriptions and queries (mostly done by clinical pharmacy team), paperwork and correspondence in a timely fashion
      • Making professional, autonomous decisions in relation to presenting problems, whether self-referred or referred from other health care workers within the organisation
      • Assessing the health care needs of patients with undifferentiated and undiagnosed problems
      • Screening patients for disease risk factors and early signs of illness
      • Developing care plans for health in consultation with patients and in line with current practice disease management protocols
      • Providing counselling and health education
      • Admitting or discharging patients to and from the caseload and referring to other care providers as appropriate
      • Recording clear and contemporaneous consultation notes to agreed standards
      • Prescribing in accordance with the practice prescribing formulary (or generically) whenever this is clinically appropriate
      • The post-holder will be expected to undertake all the normal duties and responsibilities associated with a GP working within primary care.
      • Support the wider multidisciplinary team
      • Run to time to ensure patient experience remains high

      Qualifications

      Essential

      • Full registration with GMC..
      • Medical Degree

      Desirable

      • Post graduate qualification in General Practice eg MRCGP/MRCP
      • Completion of GP vocational Training

      Experience

      Essential

      • Experience of using EMIS clinical system

      Desirable

      • Experience or interest in training other trainee GPs and trainee practitioners
