      Job summary

      We are currently looking for a 6 session salaried GP to work in our large, supportive and friendly practice.

      We are a well-established GP practice of 18,000 patients and are located in the market town of Honiton in East Devon. We have a diverse clinical team that includes 6 GP partners, 13 salaried GPs, advanced nurse practitioners, pharmacists, pharmacy technicians, FCP physiotherapists and occupational therapists. We also have a health and well-being coach team that works closely with our local CMHT. We are the lead practice in our PCN working with two other local practices and have a good rating with CQC. In addition, we are a training practice currently training GP registrars, AHPs, nurses and nurse practitioners.

      We are looking for a committed, enthusiastic individual who is proactive and well organised. They will need to be passionate about delivering high standards of patient care. Each morning we have a coffee break to offer peer support and case based discussion; and each month we have clinical educational meetings.

      Main duties of the job

      Working as part of our multidisciplinary team, you will have the opportunity to support and care for a diverse patient group. The main responsibilities of the role include:

      Undertaking a variety of duties including surgery consultations, telephone consultations and queries, visiting patients at home, checking, and signing repeat prescriptions and dealing with queries, paperwork, reports and correspondence in a timely manner.

      Making professional, autonomous decisions in relation to presenting medical problems

      Assessing the healthcare needs of patients with undifferentiated and undiagnosed problems

      Screening patients for disease risk factors and early signs of illness

      Developing care plans for health inconsultation with patients and in line with current practice disease management protocols

      Providing health education

      Recording clear consultation notes to agreed standards

      Collecting data for audit purposes and complying with QOF requirements

      All general duties and responsibilities associated with a GP working within primary care.

      • You will have the following qualifications:
      • Fully qualified GP with GMC registration
      • Annual appraisal and revalidation (when appropriate)
      • Be on the NHSE medical performers list

      Qualifications

      • Good understanding and experience of chronic disease management and primary prevention & screening services
      • Ability to take responsibility for your own career development, learning and performance and are responsible for ensuring that all your mandatory training is in date
      • Awareness of and compliance with all relevant practice policies/guidelines, e.g. prescribing, confidentiality, data protection, health and safety
      • Commitment to life-long learning and audit to ensure evidence-based best practice
      • Excellent inter-personal and communication skills in a confidential manner
      • Experience in delivering research and quality improvement projects is preferred though not essential
