      Job summary

      An exciting opportunity has arisen for a highly motivated and compassionate GP to join our team of eleven GPs (four Partners and seven Salaried GPs) working in a salaried role on either a full time or part time basis. We will offer up to £11,000 per clinical session (per annum) (based on experience).

      This role will be based at Alneburgh House, Ewanrigg Road, Maryport where we run an 'Outstanding' CQC rated GMS Practice.

      The successful GP will be working as part of a large multi-disciplinary team consisting of GPs, Advanced Nurse Practitioners, Paediatric Nurses, Paramedic Practitioners, Physiotherapists, Pharmacists, Social Prescribers, Practice Nurses and Healthcare Assistants. Together we work as a dynamic team committed to delivering holistic care for our patients.       The Practice is committed to innovative approaches in the delivery of patient care offering many specialist services and we pride ourselves on learning and supporting each other and sharing best practice both for patient care and personal development.

      The Practice uses EMIS Web and is consistently excellent in QOF performance and other DES and LES targets.

      We actively encourage colleagues to follow shared interests in delivering the best outcomes for patient care such as GP Training, Mental Health, Paediatrics or any other speciality of Primary Care.

      Main duties of the job

      To work as an autonomous practitioner, responsible for the provision of medical services to the practice population, delivering an excellent standard of clinical care whilst complying with the GMS contract. Furthermore, the post-holder will adhere to the GMC standards for good medical practice, contributing to the effective management of the practice, leading by example, maintaining a positive, collaborative working relationship with the multidisciplinary team.

      The working week will include a variety of clinical sessions with pre-bookable appointment clinics, Duty Doctor sessions, Home Visiting sessions. Our allocated Admin GP and Triager deal with lab results/prescription queries/ documents, letters and discharges on the day to allow for GPs to focus on maximising time with patients.

      About us

      The successful candidate will join a team of nearly 80 staff members, who all work to support each other and deliver the best possible service to the patients. We serve a practice population of approximately 14,000 patients covering a rural/urban footprint in West Cumbria along the Solway coastline and touching the edge of the Lake District.

      Upon starting the successful candidate will receive an induction to allow for time to observe and learn about how the Practice works as well as the opportunity to meet colleagues and learn about their roles.

      Undertake a variety of duties, including surgery consultations, telephone consultations and queries, visiting patients at home, and dealing with correspondence in a timely fashion

      Making professional, autonomous decisions in relation to presenting problems, whether self-referred or referred from other health care workers within the organisation

      Assessing the health care needs of patients with undifferentiated and undiagnosed problems

      Developing care plans for health in consultation with patients and in line with current practice disease management protocols including providing health education

      Recording clear and contemporaneous consultation notes to a high standard

      Complete referrals where appropriate including for any suggested diagnostic testing and report on results to patients as required

      Prescribe in accordance with the Practice prescribing formulary

      It is expected that the post-holder will undertake all the duties and responsibilities associated with a GP working within Primary Care

      Attend team meetings and other clinical meetings as necessary

      Provide clinical support for colleagues including assisting with the mentoring and training of colleagues as part of the Practice's commitment to lifelong-learning.

      Comply with all relevant organisation policies and procedures including but not limited to confidentiality, data protection, health & safety, infection control etc.

      Undertake mandatory training as determined by the Practice
