      The mission of the Department of Public Instruction:

      The State Board of Education has the constitutional authority to lead and uphold the system of public education in North Carolina.


      ***This position is home-based and will be serving Winston Salem/Forsyth County Schools. ***


      The North Carolina Department of Public Instruction is seeking applicants for an Education Program Consultant III (School Leadership Coach) for our CARES work located within District and Regional Support Division. The primary purpose of the position of School Leadership Coach (SLC) is to assist the Director of District and Regional Support with the specific responsibility of building the capacity of leadership in schools identified for support to implement and sustain reform and innovation to ensure that all students graduate prepared for college and work. School leadership Coaches will provide on-site support for principals and other school leaders by collecting data and providing supports regarding school improvement planning statewide. This position will align work processes with other key NCDPI positions in the district and region. This position is supervised by the District Leadership Coach that oversees the CARES team in each named district.

      The School Leadership Coach is responsible for building capacity of school principals and leadership teams to develop systematic processes for the ongoing analysis of school-related data and use of these data to inform decisions and monitor progress. This position provides support and assistance in developing innovative frameworks and plans that address performance objectives and organizational goals. The School Leadership Coach will be required to provide written feedback to identified school leadership teams.

      The School Leadership Coach is also responsible for building capacity of school leaders to develop processes for effective recruitment, employment, and retention practices that ensure the school is staffed with highly qualified teachers and personnel.

      The School Leadership Coach meets with the Director of District and Regional Support, Regional Support Teams, and other education partners as appropriate to ensure alignment of goals, communication, and action plans. Communication includes planning, sharing, defining, directing, and explaining the ongoing work of District and Regional Support in improving student achievement within targeted schools.

      MANAGEMENT PREFERENCES:

      Preference will also be given to candidates with successful experience as a school principal.

      Master’s degree in Educational Leadership, Curriculum and Instruction, or a closely related field with licensure in one of the designated areas;10 Years of Successful Teaching/School Administrator Experience; and Successful Experience in Teaching/Training Adult Learners.

      Preference given to those who live in the assigned region or within a close proximity to the assigned region.

      Master's degree in the education field to which assigned from an appropriately accredited institution and five years of progressively responsible experience in the assigned area of public education with at least two of those years in a supervisory/lead capacity; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
