      About the Position:
      This position is located in the DoDEA Europe West District, Spangdahlem High School.

      Federal employees in Spangdahlem, Germany are currently entitled to receive a 25% Post Allowance (COLA) in addition to the base salary.

      This position is not covered by a bargaining unit.

      Duties


      • Uses student achievement data and related data to make decisions regarding the school improvement plan, teacher professional development requirements, and programmatic changes.
      • Establishes and maintains a professional learning community for staff and a positive school climate for students.
      • Explains human resources policies to include transfers, benefits, and grievances/appeals.
      • Presents briefings relative to school policy to community leaders, local national authorities and visiting dignitaries.
      • Serves as the responsible officer for all government-owned or leased property assigned to the school.
      • Directs timely and accurate preparation and maintenance of pupil records, office files, schedules, statistical and other reports, registers, work orders, and expenditure of funds.
      • Informs supervisor of education deficiencies, critical issues, and emergencies.
      • Takes appropriate action on pupil discipline and behavior problems to include providing students with counseling.

      Requirements


      • Male applicants born after December 31, 1959, must complete a Pre-Employment Certification Statement for Selective Service Requirement.
      • Proof of U.S. Citizenship required.
      • Direct deposit of pay is required.
      • Two-year trial or probationary period may be required.
      • Appointment subject to a suitability/fitness determination, as determined by a background investigation.
      • Two-year supervisory probation period may be required.
      • This position requires a Tier 3 (T3) investigation with Childcare Checks since its duties require interaction with children and youth under the age of eighteen (18) years of age.
      • This position requires you to submit a Confidential Financial Disclosure Report (OGE450) upon entry, and annually thereafter.
      • You may be required to sign a transportation agreement.
      • You will be required to sign a mobility agreement, be available for worldwide placement, and be willing to rotate to any DoDDS or DDESS location.
      • Individuals hired from the Continental United States (CONUS) and their family members (who are US citizens) are required to obtain Official Passports prior to departure to the overseas area.
      • A secret security clearance is required.

      In order to qualify, you must meet the education and experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application.

      Minimum Education Requirements for a Principal:
      A Master's degree in Educational Administration/Educational Leadership with a minimum of 30 semester hours of graduate level course work in school administration
      OR

      A Master's degree reflecting 45 semester hours of graduate level course. Of the required 45 hours of graduate level course work, a minimum of 30 of those semester hours must be Educational Administration/Educational Leadership.

      In addition to the requirements listed above, you must also meet the requirements listed below:

      General Experience Requirements for a Principal: A minimum of three years of successful classroom teaching, specialist, or other professional educatorexperience at the Pre-K -12 level is required.

      Specialized Experience Requirements for a Principal: A minimum of two years appropriate experience (elementary and/or secondary) in a staff or supervisory position which clearly demonstrated the ability to administer school educational programs and to effectively supervise educators and support personnel. No more than one year of experience in positions that did not involve actual school administration will be credited as specialized experience.

      Professional Licensure/Certification Requirement: Applicants must be currently certified or certifiable under the current DoDEA standards as a Principal, High (category 1024).
