What to Expect (Job Responsibilities):
- Interpret the Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS) and other state standards for large-scale assessment development
- Design innovative science assessment tasks utilizing diverse media and interactive formats
- Edit and review science assessment items and scoring materials to ensure compliance with guidelines
- Serve as lead science content specialist on projects, facilitating content review meetings and client interactions
- Develop and deliver professional development workshops related to assessment development and standards

What is Required (Qualifications):
- Experience within the last three years with large-scale assessment development
- Degree in a science-related field (Master’s degree preferred; advanced coursework in Earth sciences preferred)
- Deep understanding of assessing the NGSS and Framework for all grades and disciplines of science
- Teaching experience in science or background in science education
- Strong analytical, critical thinking, oral, and written communication skills

How to Stand Out (Preferred Qualifications):
- Demonstrated editing skills, including content editing and copy editing
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines within tight timelines
- Experience mentoring junior content staff members
- Familiarity with assessment development platforms
- Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and PDF software applications
