      Job Description

      We are seeking a hard-working, diligent, and highly motivated molecular biologist to join our R&D team within the Agriculture Business unit based in Austin, TX. A scientist with a background in molecular biology who has experience in next-generation sequencing, real-time PCR, and automated liquid handlers is needed. Responsibilities include designing, carrying out, summarizing, and reporting experiments to support the R&D activities and development of new products. The candidate will also assist in maintaining and programming automated liquid handling systems.

      The candidate will be required to maintain accurate research records and training files in accordance with relevant Thermo Fisher standards. We are seeking someone who can work well in a team environment. As part of a team, the candidate will be encouraged to maintain the flexibility to provide critical efforts to support projects of other team members on short notice, while maintaining their own project(s). Since projects will often overlap, the ability to multitask is essential. The candidate will be encouraged to communicate results and conclusions clearly to other members of the team as well as business partners and outside collaborators on occasion. There are also chances to create contributions to scientific literature and attend conferences. All employees are expected to follow company safety regulations and procedures.

      Role & Responsibilities

      • Preparing and Sequencing NGS libraries using the Ion S5 instruments.

      • Performing qPCR or digital PCR using common Thermo Fisher Scientific instruments.

      • Maintaining and developing protocols on multiple liquid handling systems

      • Working with statistical analysis software like JMP to analyze sequencing and PCR results.

      • Interact with multiple stakeholders/teams to understand requirements and ensure consistent meeting of deadlines and deliverables.

      • Keep abreast of latest advances in field, and provide scientific input and actively participates in team meetings.

      • Present results to customers and cross-functional internal teams is a job requirement.

      Qualifications

      • Master's Degree in biology or related field and 1+ years of experience OR PhD with OR Bachelor's Degree in biology or related and 2+ years of experience
