      Job Description:

      All of Southwest’s People come together to deliver on our Purpose; Connecting People to what’s important in their lives through friendly, reliable, and low-cost air travel. The Scrum Master delivers on our Purpose by supporting the crew scheduling and recovery product line, which are systems used by our Crew Members and Crew Schedulers to support our daily operations. In addition, this role helps the team reach peak productivity by working with team members, resolving impediments blocking a team, and helping to track their progress. The Scrum Master is a self-starter with a continuous improvement mindset who is excited about the opportunity to play a critical role on the Crew Technology Team in establishing and implementing solutions while working in a dynamic environment.

      Additional Details:

      • This role is offered as a remote workplace position, which may require travel for training, meetings, conferences, etc. Outside of those required visits, the majority of your working time may be spent in a remote location, away from our Corporate Campus. Please note, while this is a remote position, there is a limited group of states or localities ineligible for Employees to regularly perform their work. Those ineligible locations are: Alaska, California, Colorado, Delaware, Illinois, Iowa, Maryland, Massachusetts, Montana, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, North Dakota, Oregon, Pennsylvania, South Dakota, Vermont, West Virginia, Washington and Wyoming.

      Responsibilities

      • Organize and facilitate planning, daily stand-up meetings, reviews, retrospectives, sprint and release planning, demos and other Scrum-related meetings

      • Serve as the team’s radiator, ensuring necessary internal and external communication, while improving overall transparency

      • Ensure the development teams are practicing the core Agile values, practices and principles of collaboration, prioritization, team accountability, and visibility

      • Look for avenues to increase the productivity effectiveness of the teams in any way possible

      • Assist team with making appropriate commitments through story selection, task definition

      • Add value to the team and organization and coach the team up

      • May perform other job duties as directed by Employee's Leaders

      Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

      • Ability to demonstrate capacity in airport/airline operations, airport finances, contracts, and high regard for interpersonal relationships

      • Ability to produce working contracts among different stakeholders such as definition of done, scope lock, acceptance of work etc.

      • Skilled in strong organization and communication

      • Skilled in utilizing strong problem-solving in an unstructured environment as a self-starter

      • Skilled in planning, preparing for, and leading meetings

      • Ability to demonstrate and maintain an extremely high regard for confidential and sensitive information

      • Skilled in SAFe

      Education
      • Required: High School Diploma or GED
      • Required: Bachelor's Degree in Business, Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field; or equivalent formal training

      Experience
      • Required: Intermediate-level experience, fully functioning broad knowledge in:
        • Scrum framework and Kanban methods
        • Velocity and flow metrics
        • Techniques for increasing team effectiveness

      Licensing/Certification
      • N/A

      Physical Abilities
      • Ability to perform work duties from [limited space work station/desk/office area] for extended periods of time
      • Ability to communicate and interact with others in the English language to meet the demands of the job
      • Ability to use a computer and other office productivity tools with sufficient speed and accuracy to meet the demands of the job

      Other Qualifications
      • Must maintain a well-groomed appearance per Company appearance standards as described in established guidelines
      • Must be a U.S. citizen or have authorization to work in the United States as defined by the Immigration Reform Act of 1986
      • Must be at least 18 years of age
      • Must be able to comply with Company attendance standards as described in established guidelines

      Pay & Benefits:

      Competitive market salary from $97,750 per year to $108,600 per year* depending on qualifications and experience. For eligible Leadership and individual contributor roles, additional bonus opportunities are available and awarded at the discretion of the company.
