      Description

The Miller Hull Partnership founded in 1977, is a West Coast-based architecture and planning firm with offices in Seattle and San Diego. Emphasizing performance-based design, capabilities include full-service architectural, interior design, as well as master and space planning for both public and private buildings. The firm's design work spans a wide range of project types such as K-12 schools/higher education, community and interpretive centers, museums, public buildings, libraries, mixed-use buildings, laboratories, corporate offices, in-fill condominiums, and small residences as well as international border crossings and embassies. The Miller Hull Partnership is the recipient of the National Firm Award from the American Institute of Architects as well as over 340 design awards and is published in numerous national and international design journals.

People form the foundation of our firm, and we are currently looking for talented, dedicated interns to add to our team. Interns can expect to work on multiple projects in a variety of roles ranging from research and conceptual design, to design development and construction documents. The internship is an in-person, hourly, non-exempt paid position with flexibility for remote-work.

The internship program at Miller Hull is based on the premise that education and growth happens at every level of the firm. Interns can expect to be involved with multiple projects at various stages of development, working on a range of tasks from research and experimentation to the production of construction documents. Our studios are characterized by highly collaborative teams aimed at developing the best solution for a given problem. Our work strives for clarity, performance and beauty with roots in its context. We value not only the dexterity and skills that students or recent graduates bring to the office but also their unique perspective on problem solving and design. Interns, like all our staff, are key contributors to progressing our work and advancing design.

Interns can easily gain access to the technical side of design but are more often involved in generating and communicating ideas related to a project or piece of a project. Their work typically contributes to the earlier phases of our work, but smaller scale studies may expose them to work happening during design development or even assembly of construction drawings. Interns frequently work with multiple teams simultaneously so strong time-management and collaboration skills are a must.

Please apply by midnight on Sunday November 19th to be considered for the position.

Applications will be reviewed the week of November 20th, and interviews will begin the week of December 4th.

During the application process, you will be asked to attach and copy/paste a cover letter and resume. Please limit your document size to 4mb. We also ask that you upload a work sample in pdf format, no larger than 4mb, or provide a link to an online portfolio that clearly addresses your experience with the criteria listed.

All responses received will be held in the strictest confidence. Only qualified candidates will be contacted for further information. No expenses related to submittal, interview or relocation will be reimbursed by Miller Hull.
