      JOB TITLE: SECONDARY VIRTUAL SCHOOL SPANISH TEACHER

      JOB SUMMARY: The person in this position must be technologically fluent in general technologies as well as technologies related to teaching, learning and student engagement. The position requires a flexible schedule and a great degree of self-discipline and organization.

      ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

      • Engage students in an online/virtual environment using effective strategies to encourage self-discipline, time management, and continual progress as well as social-emotional development
      • Monitor/grade/review students through daily, consistent dashboard checks; stay within a 24-48 hour window for providing feedback and reviewing progress to allow students to continue to access the next modules in the program
      • Coach and train students and families on the successful use of technology related to virtual/online instruction, including time management, organization and skills-based training related directly to hardware or software
      • Serve as a liaison between the student, the parent, and Yukon Public Schools staff
      • Effectively communicate with students and parents on a regular basis using Google Meet (or other technologies), email, or phone
      • Monitor student progress on a daily/weekly basis and implement proactive interventions to facilitate academic progress
      • Perform administrative tasks on a daily basis, to include: attendance; tracking student grades and progress; managing schedules and meetings; and communicating with school personnel, the student and parents
      • Facilitate inventory/checkout process with students and parents for district issued technology device or other district issued resources; facilitate resolution of technical issues using available resources
      • Analyze data on a consistent basis to inform instruction, interventions, and differentiation (delivery and format)
      • Adhere to all local, state, and federal policies, procedures and laws that apply to employees of Yukon Public Schools
      • Effectively engage students in accordance with the district approved software (Edgenuity for 9-12), schedule, philosophy, goals, and objectives
      • Clearly articulate deadlines, schedules, procedures, and progress to students and parents and communicate status updated and/or concerns to appropriate school staff to ensure student progress
      • Engage Yukon Public Schools counselors, administrators, and other supports to proactively address student concerns, lack of student progress, and social emotional development.
      • Schedule and conduct parent-teacher conferences no less than once per semester in a virtual setting
      • Coordinate with the Building Testing Coordinator and District Testing Coordinator to facilitate and/or monitor student participation in district, state or federally required assessments
      • Implement strategies that promote digital citizenship and fosters a safe and healthy virtual learning environment
      • Ability to effectively facilitate and organize learning over multiple grade levels and/or subject areas
      • Respond to student, staff, and parent communication daily and within 1-2 business days
      • Make contact with all students, via email or phone call, a minimum of once a week, even if adequate progress is being made
      • Make contact with any student that fails to meet the weekly progress goal for work completed
      • Collaborate with the Virtual School Counselor on student progress or lack of progress
      • Participate in IEP/504 meetings on site as needed
      • Attended in person and virtual scheduled trainings when required
      • Meet in person with any student who does not maintain progress in the assigned online course which includes organizing on campus, in person intervention
      • When requested, submit grades to the Virtual School Counselor and at the end of each grading period

      EDUCATIONAL/TRAINING REQUIREMENTS:

      • Minimum of three years of successful classroom teaching experience preferred
      • Experience teaching or training in an online or virtual environment preferred
      • Valid Oklahoma teacher certification required; multiple grade levels and/or subject levels STRONGLY preferred
      • Demonstrated effectiveness in the use of technology, to include, but not limited to: Learning Management Systems (e.g. Google Classroom); Microsoft Office; Adobe; online training or teaching software; and technologies to facilitate engagement and interaction (e.g. Google Meet, video production, etc.)
      • Ability to build effective relationship and work collaboratively in an online/virtual environment
      • Ability to communicate effectively through various communication channels, including video, written and oral

      WORKING CONDITIONS:

      • Required to work from a physical district location
      • Generally, the job requires 90% sitting, 10% standing/walking
      • May experience constant interruptions, inflexible deadlines, and changes to normal routines.
      • Expected to maintain a class/case load of up to 200 full-time students; special education class/case loads may differ

      TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:

      • 182 day contract
      • Salary Range: Certified teacher payscale based on degree level and classroom teacher experience

      REPORTS TO: Determined based on assignment and location

      STATUS: Exempt Certified
